How to Search Multiple Video Sites with One Tool

logo With the many video search helpers out there, it is hard to find one that works and works well.  That is where VideoFetcher comes into play.  Using a search box, an iframe and a little imagination they have come up with a good way to search multiple video hosting sources for material.

Now they don’t win any points for being the best looking service, the design is a ‘bit ugly and bland.  The concept though, of having just about every search provider for video on the left and your results on the right is one that works.

You can also add them to your search bar too in the browser to have easy access to the searching.  VideoFetcher is worth a shot if your find yourself browsing around the video sites in your spare time.

Rip MP3s from YouTube Vidoes

Now it isn’t often that I want to take the audio track from a video on YouTube, but the other day I found a collection of wrestling themes I really like to have a few selections from.  So to take the music from the uploads, I found a tool that will get it done.

FLV to MP3!

The FLV to MP3 Online Converter is the tool you want to keep handy.  So far it is still fairly quick with it’s conversion and when it is done doing that voodoo that it does so well it will spit out a .mp3 file for you to save, edit and rename as your own.

As a bonus, also be sure to check out my post on Firefox Facts that covers ripping mp3 files from music shared on MuxTape.com.

Garfield Christmas Special… (without Garfield)

I must have a deep seeded aggression against orange cats for some reason. Coming from the comments, I got passed this link to the Garfield Christmas Special. The odd thing is that Garfield (and Oddie) have both been edited out of it. Not sure how they did it but it does make for an interesting (and much shorter) version of the story.

Also, not to spoil anything - but make sure you watch it all the way to the end.

Can’t Beat Web 2.0? Copy Them Instead!

How does it go again, if you can’t beat them - join them? How about copying them instead? There seem to be a lot of clone scripts out there for some of the more popular destinations on the Web.

invasion-of-the-body-snatchers-movie-poster1 Attack of the Web 2.0 Clones!

* = need to pay for it
** = not really a clone, is the software used to run Wikipedia

See, even you can run your own Web 2.0 masterpiece! All you need is a little time, a solid hosting account and your own origional take, version or spin on the already popular idea.

Turn Off YouTube Spam

YouTube Spam?

Anybody else getting more YouTube spam lately?

I have noticed a few more trickling in lately - so decided to do something about it. If you go visit your My Account page and hunt for around 10 minutes you will find a link for E-mail Options. From there, you can set YouTube to “Don’t send any emails for the above events”.

Hit save, and you should be all fixed up. No offense lovemeChristy72, your just not my kind of girl though.

Get Download Link for YouTube Videos

Download YouTube Videos

There are a few videos on YouTube I wouldn’t mind saving to watch later - take this one for example. Come on, I know you could all watch my Web hosting stress relief video all day long. Why go get a new extension to do a job I can do myself with a simple Greasemonkey user script? This is all you need to do - pick up the YouTube Video Download script at userscripts.org for Greasemonkey.

After doing so - you get a pretty little download icon as you see in the image above where you can download any video from the Web site. You’ll get it as an .flv file. Then you can play it in that format using a player like VLC Media Player or convert it to something else.
