URLXL shortens your URLs using slugs instead of numbers, so they are easier to remember. After you have submitted your information in, you are given a web page much like this one:
http://www.urlxl.net/review/web-hosting/
You then have the options to share on Twitter or Pownce. This new service is also powered by the Google App Engine, which means you can use your Google login info to gain access to it. It should be really interesting to watch urlxl.net to see where it goes in development in the future.

URL Spell Check might sound like a crazy idea - like many of the web sites out there that “only” do spell checking for you. Hear me out though because this could become a very powerful tool in the war against bad grammar.

All you do is type in the URL of your choice into the box on their web site, and it does a pretty good job and telling you which ones it thinks might be misspelled. Only problem is that it kind of chokes when it comes to pronouns.
In my opinion they could jump over that hurdle by giving me the pronoun it thinks is misspelled and then give me a link beside it to go check on Dictionary.com. We all screw up from time to time so this tool does make it a little easier to catch our spelling mistakes before we have embarrassed ourselves with our viewrs, VIEWeirs, viewers.

It is my opinion that everybody should have a URL shortener handy from whatever browser you use. I still use TinyURL from time to time - but I have found one that has replaced this mini-url titan on my links bar. The new service I have been using is urlTea.
They have an easy to use bookmarklet which makes shortening URLs brain dead simple. It also automatically copies the new shorter URL to your clipboard too - which saves on an extra step or two. Also you can IM your URLs into a special address (teabot@urltea.com) using Jabber or Google Talk to get a urlTea URL.
The current base of TinyURL clones out there are still lacking. This service at least looks like it has a unique vision for it’s present and future - and that is never a bad thing.
