You can add any kind of file and save it into your Dropbox folder.  So say, Bill add a series of Word documents in his Dropbox folder and then shares that folder with me, I can then pull the documents out and edit them, view them and even add them back to the Dropbox to send back to him.  It is hard for me to hold back my urge to describe the service as some sort of odd time space worm hole – but to me, that might be the best way to describe it.

If you sign up for the free version of Dropbox, you get 2GB of disk space to save and send your stuff.  While that might not make it the perfect backup option – it does come in handy with collaborating on files with others. Pen.io boasts that they are the fastest way to publish online, period. It is true, you can create a beautiful text-based page in seconds and then share it with whomever you wish to share it with too.  Here is a quick example of what the pages look like:

As you can see, they keep things very simple and lightweight.  Now, I wouldn’t say this would be the perfect way to publish an entire website – however it is handy if you want to share something you have written online – but don’t want to go through all the trouble of finding a fancy place to host it.  Just write it up, publish and share the link.  It really is super simple to do.

Flickr is a great way to share your photos online, but using the browser tools might seem a little cumbersome to some people out there. If you want to upload photos directly from your PC to Flickr with only a few clicks in between, then you need the Flickr Uploadr.

With this free program, you simply right click on any image you wish to upload to Flickr, choose “Send to Flickr” and you get the window that is pictured above.  You can also drag and drop files into the Flickr Uploadr too.  From there tag your photos, write descriptions, give them titles and more.  When you are done, upload and all your images you picked will be up and online on your Flickr profile.

The Flickr Uploadr supports both Mac and Windows, so go download it and start adding new pictures to your own Flickr profile.  You don’t have an excuse now to put it off any longer!

How simple is it?  All you do is click on one of the empty “Upload Image” boxes, select the image, wait and you are done.

Really, that is it.  No more.  It is that simple.  How simple?  This is such an easy image uploading process that Picamatic decided to do almost the same exact thing.

Actually I am ashamed in this great day and age of Internet innovation, that two online companies could show no courage to really make their own online tool more unique for the public at large.  And furthermore…

But honestly, in this day of Web 2.0, you would think that one would be more encouraged to go their own route and not be afraid of vicissitude.

Ok, we get it – anyways, yes both Pict and Picamatic offer a really unique way to upload your graphics or images in a single click.  As for which one you should use? Try them both and see which one performs better for you, because as Plug Man said, neither are all that innovative once you get past the cool single click free image uploading and hosting.

Boasting of all the bandwidth and space they have for you to use, Sharenload is a new free file hosting service, that seems to round the bases when it comes to the basic features you come to expect from a free file host.

As it slides into home plate, it looks to have everything you might be looking for in a free file host.  Of course, the terms or service says you should not upload any adult or copyrighted material.  Also, while we are talking about limits, you can upload up to 2048 MB and up to 5 files at a time.  By clicking on the “advanced” link via their upload form, you are also given a way to e-mail and password protect your upload too.

So, if you are looking to support a new free file host, Sharenload delivers all the basics you would come to expect, living up to their moto – just another file host.

This is the e-mail like interface, that lets you quickly drop in an address and then a message to your buddy your sending the file to.

This second section of the upload interface gives you an easy to understand interface when it comes to setting permissions, limits and uploading the files you wish to share.  If you like the service I would suggest that you register – but for those who do not wish to you can send up to 2GB without doing so.

Filemail.com is it a hit or a miss?

File Qube is a free online storage spot that allows you to upload your files and share them with your friends, family and other random strangers. Your max filesize per upload is 150 MB and if you sign up they bump it up to 500 MB. Also after signing up you get 2 GB of disk space to use for all of your uploads.

They are advertising “free unlimited downloads” but as I have said time and time before, there is no such thing as “unlimited” in hosting. Up to 100 MB is your file limit as well, so you might find a limit there if you want to share really big files. Overall, zShare isn’t too bad and I really like the simple layout of the Web site in general.
