Feedlooks is a very interest new way to subscribe to your favorite website RSS feeds, and keep track of when they have new posts to check out.  Rather than serving as a separate webpage you visit to keep up with RSS subscriptions, Feedlooks comes with you to each website you want to visit.

Now, I know that might sound a little strange, so let me explain.  After looking in you get your standard interface that is simple, to the point and does not mess around with too much visual candy.

So where is the excitement? When you click on one of these preview links for the RSS feed you are subscribed to, it will take you directly to the page the post is on.  So how do you get back to the Feedlooks service?  It stays loaded as a web-based toolbar across the top of the page.

Want to get back to your list of feeds you need to read? Just click the “Home” section at the top and it pops back up with more headlines for you to check out.  Once you are done checking your feeds – you don’t have to mark the ones you have not checked out yet as read to get rid of them.   Simply close Feedlooks. New items added since you last checked will show under the default category “New”.

As a website publisher, this is really exciting to me because I like the idea of bringing more people in to see my content on my actual website.

Overall, I have high hopes for this great new service.  You can sign up and check it out at Feedlooks.com.  This is the first RSS reader to give Google Reader a run for its money in a long time.

Always finding yourself forgetting your loved one’s birthday?  Well, forget no longer with the help of RSS Birthday.  This new web site will allow you to create a customized RSS feed with birthday reminders.  Once created, you can get the birthday reminders delivered to you – so you’ll never forget again.

Personally, I use Google Calendar for this type of thing, and set it up as a yearly reminder, however it is good to have alternatives.  Also, RSS Birthday could be handy in organizing all the birthdays you need to remember in one spot.  So that is another advantage that it has.

Looking for an easy way to get through your Monday morning feeds?  Use these add-ons for Firefox, mix them up with Google Reader and then recover the rest of your morning.

• Google Reader Notifier – This shows you how many unread items you have in your Google Reader account.
• Google Reader Watcher – Afraid your updates are getting away from you?  Google Reader Watcher will check your Google Reader for unread news.
• feedly – Feedly is a new kind of RSS start page which weaves Google Reader, Digg and Delicious into a more fun, magazine-like user experience.
• Better GReader – Preview web pages inline in Google Reader, collapse the header and sidebar for more reading area, get a Mac OS X like skin, add favicons to feed subscriptions and more with Better GReader.
• Shareaholic – Shareaholic allows you to quickly share, bookmark, and e-mail web pages via a very wide array of your favorite web 2.0 social networking & bookmarking sites such as Google Reader!

FeedMyInbox is a new service that recently caught my eye, due to the fact they make things very simple.  They are offering you blogs, feeds and news delivered magically to your e-mail inbox.  All you have to do is visit the web site and enter a web site RSS feed and your e-mail address. 

Here is how FeedMyInbox explain the process:

Once you find a feed you would like to subscribe to, simply type in the web address (URL) for the site on FeedMyInbox.com. We will find the feed(s) available on the page, and you can select what you want to subscribe to. Once you subscribe to a feed, we will send an email to the address you specified. Simply click the link that is enclosed to confirm that your email address is correct, and you are all set!

It is an interesting service, to say the least. 

Of course, if you want to get my feed in your inbox, that is easy enough to do without this service.  Just click this link to subscribe to e-mail updates, so you never miss a post.

Thanks for following me for the past 4+ years!  You are the awesome 600+ that keep me going day after day and I REALLY do appreciate it.

Everybody has their own way of doing things though, so you need to make sure you meet everybody’s needs.  Thanks to services like FeedBurner, this is pretty easy.  From inside their web site you can generate tons of those subscription links, as well as your standard big orange button and even e-mail newsletter management.  It is by far the best option out there.

As a rule of thumb, you want to give people the ability to follow you via:

• Your Domain (visiting your web site)
• Via RSS (using the feed reader of their choosing)
• and a newsletter (which you can easily setup with an RSS feed with FeedBurner)

Also it never hurts to let people know your RSS feed over and over again.  Such as how I am right now begging you informing you to subscribe to this feed if you want more informative posts just like the one you just read:
