With both paid and free versions, Site24×7.com looks to be a great web site monitoring package. They do monitoring of uptime and performance of your web sites, online services and servers. They also promise to deliver instant alerts the moment something goes wrong.
You can set the monitoring tools to check the web site in question you wish to monitor in intervals ranging from 5 to 60 minutes or above.
If the worst might happen, and you need to be told, here are the various ways they can alert you to trouble:
For those of you just wanting to beta test the service; when you first sign up, you are given a fully functional, 15-day trial account. At the end of 15 days, your account will be downgraded to free unless you upgrade to either Standard or Premium account.
Check out the screenshots, then give them a shot at Site24×7.com.

There are a lot of server monitoring services out there, but it has been a while since I have been this impressed by one. I had the “man behind the magic” over at Wormly on the Web Hosting Show this week. If you haven’t tuned in and listened - what are you waiting for. Consider this your written invitation.
Here are a few other things we covered on the latest episode of the podcast:
- An Interview with Julien Szemere of Wormly.com!
- Five Web Development Tools of the Trade!
- Lori - a Firefox Extension for Hosting Gurus!
- A Link to Resize your Web Site to Any Size at All!
- Wild and Wacky Web Hosting Edu-tainment!
+ Download and Listen to the Web Hosting Show - Episode 105!

Maybe it was that New Year’s Eve that you stayed locked in the data center looking at the cold lifeless machines that made you wonder what they would be thinking?
Maybe it was because you kept that bottle of champagne to yourself and you had already downed the other two bottles before you got to work.
No matter what the reason might be, you know as well as I do that you have wondered what those servers would be saying to one another. You sick, sick little man!
Know any servers personally? If so, what do you think they are thinking right now?

I hate to be the one to tell you that I told you so, but I did. According the Netcraft:
Customers of MediaTemple’s GridServer, which received widespread attention upon its debut last month, experienced significant downtime Tuesday. GridServer is among the many cluster-based grid hosting services, offering the promise of enterprise-level reliability and scalability in an affordable web hosting plan.
Now that I got the “I told you so” out of the way, let me say something in the defense of Media Temple.
Bad things happen, no matter who your Web host is.
Media Temple’s advantage is also it’s disadvantage. They are host to a lot of popular blogs out there, so when things are good they get praise ten times more than anybody else. When things go back - the same thing happens in the negative sense.

Alright, I think it is just about time to make my announcement about one of the new major supporters for the Web Hosting Show podcast.
FastServers.Net have been brought on and are now providing me with a server to host the number one Web hosting podcast out there today on. Hopefully in the future this machine might even be home to a few other hosting projects as well. (Don’t let me get ahead of myself though)
FastServers.Net is by far the leader when it comes to data centers out there today, so it just tickles me to be able to associate myself with him. Web Hosting Chat, which has been my major supporter for the year and a half is staying on a supporter (still giving me that forum space!). I think it is save to say though that FastServers.Net would be considered the new major supporter.
While I am in a thanking mood - I would like to thank everybody in general in the Web hosting industry that has supported my dream via the podcast. Who ever knew that one guy from Texas could draw all this attention just by helping people figure out what Web hosting is all about.
Now what does all this butt kissing mean for you and the Web Hosting Show? Well it means that you will be able to listen to the show week in and week out for a while longer. I would be happy as heck if I could be doing my 200th or 2,000th episode associated with FastServers.Net.
I’ll have a little more news on next week’s podcast - so stay tuned for more.

Those wacky folks over at Web Host Automation have decided to give Helm (the control panel software they created) away for free. There is a catch though.
Web Host Automation announced Helm Lite 5 which will give users the ability to host up to five domains, providing them with all the benefits of Helm, for free. The product is ideal for small Web hosting startups. The Helm Lite 5 package gives Web hosting startups, with a small customer base, that critical piece of hosting software they need right away, for free. The product also allows a user to host five domains. From there, it is a simple process just to upgrade to the next level.
Any amateur Web hosts out there? This could be a great deal for you. Big Web hosts? Well, you already have enough money, you can go ahead and buy yours still. (link)
