10 Wonderful Web Site Widget Resources
There are many services out there that offer widgets you can embed into your own web site layouts. How do you know which ones are the best? Well, I am not an expert. Since this is the Internet though, I can pretend.
Here are my top 10 favorite widget related web sites.
Widgetbox – Tons of free widgets to put on your site.
LinkWithin – Post related stories and thumbnails on your web site.
ShoutMix – Free shoutbox/tagboard chat widget.
File Sharing Made Easy with s4ve.as
Free file sharing sites are a dime a dozen out there, however every so often one catches my eye. S4ve.as allows you to upload any tile of any size for free and get a link back to it that remains good for 24 hours. So if you need to quickly send a big file to a friend, this offers itself up as a great solution.
Once you get the link, copy and past it anywhere and share it instantly via e-mail, web page, instant message, status update, tweet, etc. Links are automatically shortened using bit.ly.
The only catch that some people might not like is the link is only live for 24 hours, after that the files in question are removed. However, if you need a quick way to share anything – S4ve.as is an option better than most.
Find Similar Sites on the Web
What SimilarSites does is simple, it matches you up with web sites that are similar to the one you search for. For example, when I searched for Mitchelaneous.com, it gave me results for Boing Boing and Lifehacker. When I searched for WebHostingShow.com, it gave me hosting sites like WebHostingStuff.com and RateMyHost.com. The service works very well, and might also help you judge if you are targeting your own web site in the right ways.
SimilarSites also has add-ons you can download and use in both Firefox or Internet Explorer. That gives you two more ways to get more out of this excellent service.
Overall SimilarSites is a fun service to check out, just in case you want another web site like just like this one, or another favorite of yours around the Web.
