Now that Google Buzz is out in the wild, your Google profile page deserves a little more attention. So, what all have you done to spruce up your own profile page? I’ll share with you some of the things I did to make this a much more informative page about me for Googlers to find.

First things first, you need to setup your Google profile page. If you are logged into Google in any way (for example, with a Gmail account) this is fairly easy to do. All you need to do is set it up at Google.com/profiles.

Once you fill out all the basic information, then you might want to start thinking about what pages you want to show up in the links section.

To add custom links, just go to your Google profile page, click on Edit Profile, then scroll down to the Links section. You should see several links Google knows about, that you have given it before – then you can also add your own. I have added links to all my various web pages, and then my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace profiles.

Next, you should setup Google Buzz via your Gmail account. Once you do, anything you post via Google buzz – you will automatically share on your Google profile page.

Feel free to visit my Google profile page if you need some inspiration.

Now there are a lot more various boxes and basic you can fill out via the Google profile page, but they are all pretty self explanatory. With the tips I gave you here, you can use your Google profile page as a social landing page for your own work and also a better way to let people know who you are and what you do.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

How many times have you told friends, family or co-workers to go Google you if they want to know all the things you do?

Google has decided to give us all a little more freedom and personalization when it comes to somebody searching for you by name. Now, when you Google a person’s name, you will get a list of Google profiles that users have setup with that name, so in turn – one would hope you find that person you are looking for faster.

How do you get your own profile setup and customized? Go check out the Google Profiles page for more information about that. I played around with adding more information to my own yesterday here:

Mitch’s Really Simple Google Profile

Now, when somebody searches for “Mitch Keeler” in Google, my Google profile shows up at the bottom of the page.

Kind of wish they would put it at the top, however then people might claim they are trying to push their own pages over the search index. Go get your own profile setup, and make it easier for others to Google you too.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

Some of the cool features that IntenseDebate brings includes:

Comment Threading – this allows you to add a comment to the general discussion, or just reply to one comment that needs a reply.

Reply by E-mail – the reply by e-mail feature makes it super-easy to stay in the conversation. You can respond to and moderate your comments with the ease of just replying to an e-mail.

Importing and Exporting – the best feature of all, the import and export feature is nice. It gives you a “way out” just in case IntenseDebate doesn’t tickle your fancy.

You can read about the other features, such as reputation points and commenter profiles here. There is also a ‘bit of a social network thrown into the mix too – which is a nice touch. You get your own profile page, where people can find where you have commented and who you are following. Here is my profile as an example: http://www.intensedebate.com/people/cheasym

Sign up is easy (especially if you have an Open ID) and they walk you through the steps of adding it you your blogging engine of choice.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

Thanks to Ping.fm I can finally be apart of more of these social sites without jumping here and there every time I want to update something. The best way to describe it is that it is a tool that just brings it all together. You can do status updates, blog updates, or micro-blog updates depending on the tools you are using it with.

Currently, here are the places you can follow me:

Bebo, Facebook, Hi5, LinkedIn, LiveJournal, Mashable, MySpace, Plurk, Pownce, Tumblr, and of course everybody’s favorite red headed step child Twitter.

Of course I’m not just looking for multiple avenues to plug and market myself, I’ve also been just sharing random Mitch-like nuggets of wisdom and random things that pop into my head that I just need to get out during the day.

Ping.fm is my new best friend on this social Web we live on today.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!
