Over the past year, I have reviewed a lot of fantastic wallpaper. So I thought today, rather than looking forward at a new wallpaper to download, we might take a look back at some of the best wallpaper that has been featured on Mitchelaneous in the last 365 days.
Top 10 Popular Posts of 2010
I have written about a lot this year. From great wallpaper to superb marketing tips, this blog has served as a catch all for my interests that do not fit into either of my other websites. I hope you have enjoyed the Mitchelaneous journey I have taken you on throughout 2010 and I figured there is no better way to look back at the best than to give you the top 10 most popular posts I’ve written in the past year.
Find Your Site’s Best Keywords in Google Analytics

Google Analytics offers a lot of good information, but not everybody knows how to read it. Today, I will show you how to compare your best performing keywords that bring people into your web site and compare it to the average traffic of your website.

Black and White Wallpaper Jubilation
In my search for the perfect wallpaper selection out there, this week I thought I would tackle the black and white world. I’m a big fan of the simplicity of black and white art and photography, so why not decorate your desktop in the same fashion?
Here is some of the best black and white widescreen wallpaper I have found out there.
Popular Flash Games Free with Friv
I usually don’t invest much time into flash games online, but after finding this depository of some of the most popular flash games out there, I might have to save Friv.com for a rainy day. Once you start playing a game, they always have the controls in a graphic towards your left – so you never have to spend too much time figuring out how to play. There are tons of games to play, and once one isn’t being played any more – they toss it out, and bring in a new one.
What does that mean? You are always getting the best of the best.

Go Plurk Yourself, Buddy!
It is official, I spend too much time checking Plurk. This is why you should too!
The Rewards of Being a Good Plurker
The "rewards" feature of Plurk is very interesting too. You can get a little star by your name if you achieve a certain goal. Also, certain customizations (such as page styles) are not available to you until your Karma number has reached a certain point.
Go Out and Do Something Creative!
A great inspiration as well is the status messages you can pick from. You have:
freestyle, loves, likes, shares, gives, hates, wants, wishes, has, will, asks, was, feels, thinks, says, and is
Speaking of inspiration, seeking that great conversation starter?
- Messages of "good morning" seem to go over well with your following…
- Random messages really do the trick, create snippets from your brain do wonders too.
- You can’t forget the plugs for your own site content or interesting links you have found on the Web.
- Plurk is much more social than the other status and micro-blogs out there. Many more replies here and much more feedback to be had if you just ask.
Share Your Photos and Videos with Everybody!
You can share photos too, just make sure that link your posting ends with a .gif, .jpg or .png. Plurk will automatically generate thumbnailed images for you and open them up inside of Plurk when somebody clicks on them. The same is done for YouTube videos too.
What Makes Plurk So Different?
The timeline is what sets Plurk apart from the competitors. This gives you a unique view of all the messages from your friend that may seem a little odd at first, but you quickly catch on. You also have the option to view all the new message, or mark all messages as read.
Maybe it is just me, but Plurkers seem to be a lot more friendly too. They are all looking for replies of their own, so they might be more willing to stop by your personal Plurk page and say, "Hello!". Looking for a friend? Feel free to click here and add me!
When push comes to shove, Plurk really is becoming a favorite stop for me (or several stops depending on the speed of the day) and I wish them the best of luck in the future.
Popular Posts via Google Analytics
How does one pull up the most popular links on their web site or blog using Google Analytics?
This one took me a little while to figure out, but finally found the right way and the quickest steps on how to get this done. I love Google Analytics more so than some of the other web site statistic scripts out there.
Many people get it installed and don’t know what to do next. This should be a good stepping stone in how to familiarize yourself with it.
First, login to Google Analytics, and click on the web site in question’s profile. You just need to click “View Reports” next to the domain you wish to find the popular links for. Next, scroll down the page till you find where it says Content Overview. This shows your pages from most popular to least popular.
Here you only see five, but there is a little “view report” link in this box too. Click it. You can also get to the same place by navigating in your left sidebar to Content and then click on Overview. Here is, well an overview of all your content settings. Now on the left side of the page, under “Overview” click where it says “Top Content”.

Here you have it, your most popular or top content on your web site. By default it should show you the top ten, but you can bump that number up around the bottom of the chart where is says “Show rows:”. To change the date range that you are pulling the content from, be sure to edit the time line you see at the top of the web page.

So there you have the best way to pull up your most popular content on your web site via Google Analytics. If you have any other how to questions with this great tool, send ‘em my way and maybe I can turn this into a series of helpful posts.
Add to MySpace Bookmarklet
I have been sharing a lot of my posts and articles on MySpace lately to get a few more interested readers coming in, and after a long search I ran into one problem. Yes, MySpace has the "Post to MySpace" feature now that makes sharing URLs from other non-MySpace sites easier. The problem is nobody has written a bookmarklet for it yet.
Well, that was the case till I figured I would give it a shot. Drag and drop think link on to your bookmarks toolbar:
To cover all my bases, here is what you do – depending on the browser you use:
Firefox – Drag and drop the above link to your bookmarks toolbar or right-click the link and select "bookmark this link".
Internet Explorer – Right click on the link above, and select "add to favorites".
Safari – Drag and drop the link to your bookmarks toolbar.
I hope this helps out anybody else looking to quickly share interesting articles and sites with your friends and stalkers on MySpace. If anybody wishes to be my bud – you can find my MySpace profile and add me there!
