Go Digg the Web Hosting Show

I really love the new Digg layout that got launched yesterday. It is so much better than the last one that was released. After the last one, digg left it’s place for me as my start page – and I just started to subscribe to updates via the RSS feed.

Now though, I think I will find myself coming back more and more.

There is just so much goodness to check out right now, almost too much to talk about. Of course, being one of those prolific podcasters, I have to talk about the new podcast feature. Want to give me an early Christmas present?

New Digg.com

Go Digg the Web Hosting Show Podcast!

Sure, when you look at the list of podcasts that are on top there are no big surprises right now. It is the same top list that every other podcast catcher or ranker shows. I doubt I would ever even break past ten diggs at the most. This feature does show that Digg has a future in finding new media and bringing it the attention it deserves.

Charity, Death and Web Hosting

Well it looks like there are a few domain name extensions that are going to visit that big DNS server up in the sky. A few of them are on the chopping block and I’ll let you know who they are and why they are. Also, it is the holiday season, so how can charitable organizations find free hosting? I’ll let you in on that industry secret too right here on the Web Hosting Show, podcast 88.

Listening to Podcasts in the Bathroom

Alright, so maybe you are wondering what this is all about right?

I am no sicko, pervert or anything else like that. Let me first start this story with my problem. Once I started my new job, I seemed to have less and less time to listen to some of my favorite podcasts. So I thought, when could I get more listening time in?

The time I spend taking a shower and shaving is filled with silence, so I figured that would be a good time to get listening to podcasts into my routine again.

Well, the first thing I tried was wearing headphones while doing these activities. That did not work out so well, so I had to go with something different. Now my MP3 player is nothing great, it is a Dell Pocket DJ. Not the state of the art machine, but it has lasted me a long time. Getting an new setup just to get this to work seemed a little silly too. There has to be an easy way to get this done.

That is when I reached for my box of old computer parts and pulled out a pair of speakers. I plugged the speakers into the audio jack on the mp3 player and cranked it up as loud as it would go. It worked! Now I have a little more time to listen to my favorite podcasts and you have yourself a quick little tip on how you can do the same.

The moral of the story?

Never toss out that old computer equipment, because you never know when you might find a good use for it – even in the bathroom.

Web Hosting Podcast Server Move and Update

Web Hosting PodcastAlright, I think it is just about time to make my announcement about one of the new major supporters for the Web Hosting Show podcast.

FastServers.Net have been brought on and are now providing me with a server to host the number one Web hosting podcast out there today on. Hopefully in the future this machine might even be home to a few other hosting projects as well. (Don’t let me get ahead of myself though)

FastServers.Net is by far the leader when it comes to data centers out there today, so it just tickles me to be able to associate myself with him. Web Hosting Chat, which has been my major supporter for the year and a half is staying on a supporter (still giving me that forum space!). I think it is save to say though that FastServers.Net would be considered the new major supporter.

While I am in a thanking mood – I would like to thank everybody in general in the Web hosting industry that has supported my dream via the podcast. Who ever knew that one guy from Texas could draw all this attention just by helping people figure out what Web hosting is all about.

Now what does all this butt kissing mean for you and the Web Hosting Show? Well it means that you will be able to listen to the show week in and week out for a while longer. I would be happy as heck if I could be doing my 200th or 2,000th episode associated with FastServers.Net.

I’ll have a little more news on next week’s podcast – so stay tuned for more.
