Media Publishing Made Easier with Loudblog

I have looked at a lot of blogging engines lately, but Loudblog is a little different.  It proudly claims it does not have the full weblog publishing features like a MovableType or Textpattern – however it does promise to be the best publishing system out there for anybody who wishes to share their own media.

Installing this script should be no problem with any shared Linux-based hosting.  They only require 1 MB of free web space, PHP 4.3 or higher and MySQL 4 or higher.  After installing, you can upload your content via the web site or FTP and then you can add and edit lots of meta information for that media.

You can also install templates and plugins to customize your experience even more.

You can check out the demo on OpenSourceCMS if you want to give it a try.  If you are looking for a sleek and easy to use content management system for publishing a podcast, Loudblog is definitely worth checking into.

Create a Feed with RSS Builder

rss-builder If you are looking for free software that makes creating an RSS feed as easy as filling in a few blanks inside of a program, then look no further than RSS Builder.  This simple program will make it easy to generate an RSS feed for your web site.

It provides an easy to use interface that gives you the ability to add, edit and customize topics, links, headlines and more.  Once you are done generating the feed you can upload it to your server with the built in FTP tool.  It also supports podcasting feeds too.

All in all, RSS Builder does a great job at making the confusing world of XML and RSS make sense, by wrapping it all in a blanket of easy to understand freeware goodness.

If you need an alternative to RSS Builder you might check out FeedSpring – another free solution to generating RSS feeds.

Put Mic Above Your Nose

Podcast Recording TipWhen it comes to podcasting, it take a while to tweak things around and find the best way of doing the job that needs to be done. I have talked with a lot of fellow talking heads – and this tip seems to be pretty popular.

When recording, if you think you sound a little funny – put the microphone above your nose or near your eye. You might have to turn up the mic sensitivity a little ‘bit but it will sound better. This is for people who think they sound too nasally or who might have a problem popping their p’s.

Also if you are a heavy mouth breather (no – I mean that in a good way) this could keep you from sounding like you just ran a three mile race before recording.

Podcasting on the Cheap

small-servers.jpgWant to know how I put together the Web Hosting Show podcast? I recently wrote up a podcasting guide for the Lunartics blog – and thought I would share it here as well. I am a big believer in not having to pay much to get your projects up and going.

Now as you can tell from the About Our BlogSTARS! Web page, I am no stranger to the art of podcasting. In fact, in February I will be celebrating my two year anniversary of creating them for the public. Now one question that I get sent my way a lot is how do I do it?
