Sort and Reorder Your Taskbar Tabs

Sort Your Taskbar TabsSince I have to stare at my desktop for several hours of the day, I like to make sure everything is nice, neat and organized.  Taskix is the free and lightweight program I use to sort my Windows taskbar tabs, so that they are exactly in the order I want them in.

Once installed, all you have to do is start the program up, click the check mark box for “Always Start with Windows” and “Drag Tabs” then click the button labeled active.  Now you can drag and drop to arrange your Windows taskbar the way you see fit.  This program is a blessing for anybody who has multiple windows open throughout the day.

It also comes with several other options such as:

  • Scroll through tabs with your mouse wheel
  • Show the desktop or restore all maximized windows when you middle click the taskbar
  • Maximize the current window when you middle-click on it’s tab

The program is free to use, although the creator would like it if you could register and possibly give a little cash in appreciation. Taskix is simply the best lightweight Windows taskbar tab reordering tool.

Merge Multiple Feeds with FeedStitch

Mix Your RSS Feeds

Have multiple RSS feed sources that you would like to merge into one?  There are a number of different services that can get this done for you, however FeedStitch is a new one that has caught my eye recently.

What is new here?  Well they cover the basics, for sure.  With HTML, RSS, and JSON they make it easy to republish the data however you want.  To get started, all you have to do is select your feed type, and click “Add Feed”.  You can also store your feeds in manually created groups too.  The feed types they support right now are:

  • RSS Feeds
  • Twitter Accounts
  • Flickr Photos
  • Delicious LInks
  • Twitter Search
  • Tumbler Micro Blogging
  • and GitHub

To use the service, all you need to do is login with a pre-existing Google, Facebook, or some other open identification service, and get to adding your feeds.  It is really easy to use, and might be my new favorite service for merging multiple feeds into one.  You can try it out for yourself at FeedStitch.com.

The Game Drawer – PS and PS2 Games

PS1 and PS2 Games

Welcome to part two of my expose on my video game drawer.  This time around we take a peak into my PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.  There are located in the second drawer, under my mobile and NES game collection.  Of course, I am screwed if I get anything else cause I’ll start running out of space again (everything is pretty tightly fit into there).  However, sure I can come up with some other wacky way to organize if needed.

Minimal To-Do Lists

Looking for a minimalist to-do list?  I have been a big fan in the past of to-do list web sites and anything that helps me manage my time better.  Patio is yet another time organization tool, that keeps things very simple.

Get More Done!

You have a daily to-do list to create after signing up.  As you type in things you need to do, they are added to the list.  Anything you haven’t gotten done for one day is automatically moved to the next day. You can also re-arrange tasks like this by taking advantage of the “shift” command.  This will let you put something off till the next day.

Here is a screen shot of Patio in action:

How Patio Works

The best thing about using Patio, or any other online to-do list manager is that you don’t have to remember to jot it down somewhere, or hurry up and find a pen and paper to write yourself a note.  You have it all online, which makes it even easier to access and organize your daily tasks.

Split Your Desktop into Virtual Work Areas

maxto-screenshot Short of taking a chainsaw to your monitor, all Evil Dead like, there aren’t a lot of good ways to split it up into multiple regions to make working an organized experience.  Thanks to Ryan over at Cybernetnews.com I can put my chainsaw away, and get to using MaxTo.  MaxTo will help you split your current monitor into virtual regions, that can serve as a constraint when maximizing windows.

Once you install it, the setup is pretty easy to understand.  You just setup how you want you desktop to be split, hit the OK button and it is done.  If you find yourself overwhelmed by having too many programs or windows floating around your desktop – give MaxTo a shot.  Previously I had been doing this same type of desktop reorganization on my own, but MaxTo does it for me – and in turn saves me a lot of tweaking time.

Stay in Tune with Your Co-Workers

Working on any large team, it can be difficult to keep your ideas, questions and answers all organized and in one place.  Co-op, a new web service out there looks to bring all of that together for you.

co-op

From the default interface, you will think, “oh, this looks like Twitter”, but I promise that there is more under the hood than that.  Think of it along the same lines though, a social stream of co-workers all posting together.  The team can then post updates, ask questions, share links all in real time.

You can also quickly share the daily job or agenda with your team.  This way you don’t have to bother trying to get everybody together so you can go over the job that needs to be done.  You can always go back in time and check on members’ contributions and search through the transcripts.  So it is an ever growing database of knowledge too.

I like organization, especially if it helps me get things done, and Co-op is a very useful combination of those two goals.
