Within the last couple of weeks, I have taken a new writing job over at The Hosting News. This is a little ‘bit different beat that my usual posts I write because I am doing news coverage for them rather than opinion or tutorial based content.

So for now something a little different, I wanted to share with you all my new car – a 2002 Ford Mustang. I hear by call it the new Mitch-mobile. I’m not really much of a car nut myself, however I have always liked Mustangs – so having my own now, I am more than a little jazzed. Also got to give thanks to both my big sister and bro-in-law for getting me hooked up at an amazing price.
PS: I know I’ve been a little slow with the site updates as of late. Been a little sick the past two weeks – however I’ve gotten it down to just a nagging cough so should be back up to 100% soon.
I am like a kid in a candy store when it comes to new tools and applications out there. I love to try them all. When push comes to shove though, only a few survive the cut as far as making it to the list of applications I actually use day to day.
Google Calendar – It might not be the prettiest girl at the dance, but boy does she know how to get down with her bad self. Google Calendar has never won points for beauty, but is more functional than anything else out there today. I use this one for just about every date reminder there is, from invoice due dates to birthdays.
MooURL – I probably could close my eyes and pick a link shortener out of a hat and come out with a winner. I won’t lie, I like MooURL.com just because the name makes me giggle.
Gmail – My e-mail situation is kind of oddly setup. I have all my external POP3 e-mail accounts plugged into Gmail, and then connect from Gmail to Thunderbird via IMAP. This way I can easily access my mail via the web or desktop, and a few other perks such as double spam filtering (counting what the server side Spam Assassin does, then put Gmail’s spam filtering on top of that).
Google Docs – Google Docs is one thing I just started using again, not too long ago. I needed to have a few documents easily accessible to me, no mater where I was – and Google Docs made that an easy thing to do.
Instapaper – This awesome site replaced my “read later” bookmark folder in Firefox. Using a simple bookmarklet, you can save any link to read later and the site itself gives you a neat list of links and the ability to “skip” (mark it read) or to mark the link unread. Very simple, and because of that, very effective.
Ping.fm – I use this web site to socialize myself. I can post a message out to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and every other social network under the sun in one go. Great for promoting your work, or just to say hello on all the social networking sites out there.
Google Notebook – This I use a little differently than most. I store a lot of the information from work on this site, such as FAQ’s and hard to find information. That way I have it all in one spot (and it is searchable).
Google Reader – Boy, this is turning into an “I love Google” list, isn’t it? The reason I use Google Reader for all my RSS reading is due to the fact that I can make it “wide view” very easily, and all I need to do to browse the news is scroll down. Don’t need much else for news reading.
I’m always looking for something new to add to the list. I think the major problem is there isn’t anybody doing anything drastically new or different. It is just the different spin on the same idea (no mater what that idea might be). However, I could just be a picky person.
Shame on you for missing out on some great post this week? Want that link again?

This has to be one of the greatest Saturday morning cartoons ever… at least for me.
Just wanted to share some exciting news this morning, Mitchelaneous has finally broken the 600 subscribers mark! I’ve been watching this one for a while, since I had been hovering in 580 subscribers to 590 subscribers for some time.
To check out every single post, be sure to check out the archives (all of them are on one single page!) It goes all the way back to an article that no longer exists anymore. Fun times, indeed. If you want to go WAY back in time – check out how things looked back in 2005!

Not old enough? Well happened to find a version from back in 2004 (the year the Mitchelaneous fun started here):

Want to help celebrate? Tell your friends, family and your neighbor’s dog they should be subscribing! Need some help?

Thanks for following me for the past 4+ years! You are the awesome 600+ that keep me going day after day and I REALLY do appreciate it.
Change is good every so often, right? I have just finished doing some spring late summer cleaning on Mitchelaneous. Just mainly wanted to give things a new look for the next few months and clean up some of the crap on the layout I wasn’t really that excited about anymore.

So what do you think? Like it? Hate it? Seems like I am cleaning up a web project a week! Last week I did the Web Hosting Show, this week it was Mitchelaneous – next week to be Firefox Facts?
I can not say too much about the new hosting project I am working on.. but I can share this with you.

Any guesses? Oh yeah, its also bigger than a shoe box and smells nothing like pepto bismol. I gave away the answer to my Pownce friends, so “mums the word” if you know.
Update! After passing out flyers, calling the local radio station, putting in a newspaper ad and going door to door asking about him – this morning it looks like Rocky ended up right in the drive way. Don’t know if he just “made his way back” or if somebody got a guilty conscience. Either way I am one happy Mitch.
The last few hours have been pretty hectic and stressful. Our family dog Rocky – that we have had at least for ten or more years has run away. Looks like the stupid pizza delivery guy left the gate open last night, so there is no real clue of when exactly he got out. I found the gate open when I got off work – then put two and two together.
Been taking it pretty hard because – as you can imagine, he was pratically a family member more than “just a dog”. If we don’t find him returning by tonight, in the morning we will have to go up to the newspaper office and put in a “missing dog” ad. I’m on the verge of writing the Pizza Hut Web site a nasty letter just because I feel kind of like I should be doing something – but have nothing I can really do.
So if you’ve been a little too busy to spend a few minutes with your favorite pet, make sure you do so cause you never know when something like this might happen to you.
Well, last week was one heck of an interesting week for me – lot of crap going on this way and that way, but I think I’ve got my plate cleared off and ready to start over again this week. Much of what went on I don’t think I’ll make public – not because it is bad but because it just ain’t any of your business.
Due to me being one busy mofo – I’m going to be leaving my writing duties over at Lockergnome. I still love Lockergnome and the crew, but it’s just not something my heart is in right now and that I have the time to do. Hopefully that will leave me a little more time to spread out to other projects and other things I have been meaning to do.
So yeah, things have happened – don’t want to talk about them – so why write? Just felt like I should at least let that one tidbit of information out there to the public. Now back to your regularly scheduled Mitchness.
I’m working on a little side article and project, but I need your help! How can you help me? Add me to your list of friends on Facebook. Come on, you know you’d do it without me asking.
+ View Mitch’s Profile on Facebook! Add him because he is Mitchtastic!
I want to see it in comparison with MySpace and a few others to see which one is the better social meeting engine and which one would be better for marketing, and a lot of other things. It isn’t often that I do something this vain, so hopefully a few of you will help me out.
