It should be no secret by now, with some of the icons and wallpapers I have shared that I am a big fan of Nintendo and the Mario franchise. With that said, I have found two more great widescreen wallpapers for you to use to decorate your own PC desktop with.

You can download the black and white version here.  Both make for great ways to decorate your desktop – and an excellent way to round out the previous week.  Both wallpapers were designed by CodFather over at DeviantArt – I highly suggest you go check out some of his other work too.

So a black mage, Mario, Kirby and Mega Man walk into a bar (and stop me if you have heard this one) and happen to make some really cool wallpaper in world 1-1 of Super Mario Bros. OK, maybe I need to work on the punch line but while we are talking about great wallpaper, I wanted to share this with you.

Who doesn’t love a good game about plumbers? Now, there is no secret that the game Enough Plumbers takes its inspiration from a certain Nintendo franchise, however it’s simple yet unique game play will keep you coming back for more.

The idea here is simple.  You have to get your plumber to the flag.  Along the way, you get coins.  For each coin you can gather, you get an additional clone of your plumber who does exactly what you do.  The arrow keys will help you move around, and if you need to restart – just hit the spacebar key.

Everybody has had the dream of playing a classic game like Super Mario Bros with another character.  Wouldn’t it be cool to run around the Mushroom Kingdom as Simon Belmont?  How about Mega Man? Your dreams can come true thanks to Super Mario Crossover.

The idea here is simple.  You play in the world of Super Mario Bros, but you have the choice of several different characters (other than just Mario).  You can play as Simon Belmont from Castlevania, Samus from Metroid, Link from the Legend of Zelda, Mega Man from well… Mega Man and Bill from Contra.

Each character has all their original move sets and power ups, which makes for a very unique game playing experience.

It is very satisfying to whip a Goomba in the face.

Go play Super Mario Crossover for yourself and see what all the buzz is about.  This is simply the best flash based Mario game I think I have ever seen.

There have been countless Mario games, both from Nintendo and made by the fans.  How many games though have featured Bullet Bill as the hero?  I have only found one, and it is tons of fun to play for free.

The game is called Bullet Bill, and if free to play in any Flash-enabled browser.  You play the roll of Bullet Bill himself, as he races across the Mushroom Kingdom.  You can knock out Goombas along the way, and break your way through blocks.  You just have to watch out for the platforms coming from the top or the bottom of the screen.

The controls are simple too.  Just hit the up arrow to go up, the down arrow to go down and the left and right arrows to change your speed.  Have I enticed you enough?  Want to play Bullet Bill on your own?  You can play it over at NewGrounds.com. Sony’s Best – ModNation Racers looked like the most fun thing they had to show, I really like the mix of the Mario-style kart racing with the do it yourself track building.

Sony’s Worst – Final Fantasy XIV was one of those moments of the show where you get really excited, till they say the word Online then you get sad again.  I never played the first “online” Final Fantasy, so maybe I should give it a fare shake first – however I am more of a fan of the more traditional Final Fantasy series.

Nintendo’s Best – It would have to be a tie, because I am really excited about Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii (horrible name though) and Metroid: Other M. 

Nintendo’s Worst – Wii Vitality Sensor is really weird.  Being somebody that owns 4 nun-chucks, 2 classic controllers, a Wii Wheel, the Wii Zapper, and 4 Wii-motes – I am running out of places to store all these accessories.  Also, why do I need a biorhythm sensor to play games?

Microsoft’s Best (and Worst) – Project Natal.  Now I don’t have an Xbox 360, so I am not a fair judge here – however I see this full body motion control to be a real winner or a really big loser.  Now, I understand where kicking a ball might be fun with this, but what about shooting a gun?  Are they expecting me to yell, “pew! pew!” at the screen? 

Overall, I think this year’s e3 show, from the point of view of the big three consoles will be, “Oh, you know that motion control stuff we made fun of from the Wii, we do that too… but better!”.
