Easy Free Storage with File Qube

It is always a good sign when a web site has a name you could use as a way to describe it. You know, such as grab me a Pop-tart instead of grab me a toaster pastry. To add to that list, we have File Qube. I am sure it is these guys dream to have you one day say, “Hey go stick that in your File Qube” and after checking it out, you might just be doing that in the near future.

File Qube is a free online storage spot that allows you to upload your files and share them with your friends, family and other random strangers. Your max filesize per upload is 150 MB and if you sign up they bump it up to 500 MB. Also after signing up you get 2 GB of disk space to use for all of your uploads.

CushyCMS = Only the Fun Parts of Content Management

The main problem with content management systems (or sometimes referred to as CMS) is that many people find them complicated, too technical and way over their head.  If your searching for an “every man” way of managing your content take a look at CushyCMS. A hosted CMS solution.

Hosted by them and edited on their servers, you can quickly create your content, with no worry about installing software or learning any programming languages. They say that your final product will be a standards compliant (and search engine friendly) masterpiece that can not be beat.

CushyCMS promises to be the easiest way to get a web site up in no time at all. I do have to say it is an interesting idea (and I wish them all the best). Curious to see how many people will turn to these types of solutions over your normal web hosting account and Joomla install for example?

UploadPedia

free-uploads.pngI have another free hosting tool that you might want to give for a spin.  UploadPedia is the most recent to catch my attention. You can upload up to 100 files at once, with the max being 100 MB. One interesting thing that they do is list all the top downloads and recent downloads that have been added to their service. If you are looking for privacy, this might not be the uploader for you. They do have a way to password protect your uploads though, so you don’t have to share if you do not want to. You can also search the files that have been uploaded too. From their terms of service, it looks like they accept any type of file, as long as it is not pornographic or copyrighted (or I guess both).

3 Years of Podcasting

This week marks the 3rd birthday of the Web Hosting Show podcast. Three years later and 143+ podcasts recorded, I think we are still going strong and thankfully can continue to say we are the number one web hosting podcast out there today and the one and only voice of the web hosting world.

Here is a little more of what to look forward to on episode 143:

It is not only my birthday, but it is your birthday too. The Web Hosting Show has been rocking the web hosting industry for three year now, and hopefully for many more years to come. No surprises, no special guests no fluff will be here today though. I am just going to do my job and give you a grade A podcast you will soon not forget.

Download the Web Hosting Show, Episode 143!

Thanks to one and all that have helped make the Web Hosting Show a winner.

Filego.net – More Free File Hosting

Free File Hosting with FilegoI am always in search of new and different free hosting setups from all around the Web. One of the most recent to catch my eye has been Filego.net. The maximum file size you can upload is 50 MB – and I couldn’t really find much as far as bandwidth limits go. With time limits your file will stay hosted as long as somebody downloads it at least once every 30 days.

Here are some of the benifits they mention on their web site:

  • Absolutely free.
  • No special software or equipment needed.
  • We won’t lose the file and it isn’t going anywhere.
  • Allows download of the file at your convenience.
  • You can download the file again if you lost it or accidentally deleted it.
  • The file can’t be removed or deleted by anyone but filego.net.com or yourself.

With content limitations, looks like they really don’t have any. You could upload anything as long as it isn’t copyrighted material. Well worth a first or second look if your looking for a free file host and you can find them at Filego.net.

Hosting Tutorials with HostHow.com

I always have my eye out for new hosting web sites, and this one really impressed me. HostHow is a new tutorial database telling you the ins and out of hosting. They cover how to do things, why to do things and when to do things. Here are a few example links I really enjoyed reading over there:

Looks like a great resource to bookmark or subscribe to (and you know how I love to collect those). If their goal is to create the largest free repository of web hosting tutorials on the net they are well on their way to doing so. If you want to submit your own work there, feel free to contact them.

Free Graphic Hosting with UpPush

UpPush.com is yet another of many free file hosting services out there that touts itself as being for “everybody”. They support .jpg, .gif, .png, .tiff, and .bmp uploads too so that almost covers all of your basic image formats.

UpPush Free File Hosting

The only regulations mentioned is “no adult content” which is reasonable and they are also the sister site to FileBig.com – a web site reviewed here a few days ago. UpPush is definitely worth checking out if you need a free image hosting resource that is both quick and easy to use.
