I have been playing a lot more with Paint.NET lately, trying to get back in tune with my more creative side. One thing I never realized was there are a lot of great tutorials out there for it, but it is hard to find the best ones. Here are the top ten best Paint.NET tutorials I have run across so far.
Scotch Tape - Create a transparent segment of scotch tape
Glossy/Glass Buttons - Create Web 2.0-like glassy buttons
Toy Car - Turn a real car into a toy car
Make a Chain - How to render individual links, then link them together to form a chain
How to make a Lightsaber - Use lighting and blur effects to render a Lightsaber in
Transparent Background - Make the background of an image transparent
Cutting out Images the Easy Way! v2 - Great method for cutting images out of pictures
LiteBrite(TM) Effect - Transform your pictures into coloured peg-board style images
Lets Make a Software Box - Transform flat images into 3D boxes
Drop Shadows - Add depth to your artwork with drop shadows
It is amazing how advanced Paint.NET has gotten over the years. Also, if your used to the graphic editor layout - it is really easy to pick up and use too. Know of any other great tutorials?

Need some tiled bliss to lay on the background of your own recent web creation? BgPatterns.com is the background generator that you want to use. Not only does it have dozens of designs to pick from, you can also set the color, size of the design, and also the level that it is rotated at.
I promise you, once you get started you will see this is just more fun to figure out if you play with it some… change your colors up, and try to get as creative as you can. Want to see an example of the end result? I used the first background I made on my Twitter profile.
Snazzy right? Check it out and make your own at BgPatterns.com.

Why do it in Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro when you can do it Online for free? Here are the best (and not so best) of the Online photo or graphic editing tools I could find these days in no specific order.
- Online Photo Tool - great interface, not confusing at all and tons of tools!
- Splashup - all the image editing bells and whistles, including layers!
- Picnik - more aimed at making it “fun”, plus they offer a paid for service too!
- Snipshot - the bookmarklet importing kind of won me over here!
- Pixenate - all the tools right there for you, no registration needed!
- VicImager - needs some polishing, controls are kind of ugly!
- LookWow - basic image manipulation, not too much editing!
- Phixr.com - probably my favorite interface of them all!
- FotoFlexer - tons of things to play with here!
Personally, I wish there were a few more like RoundPic that didn’t do everything fairly well, but instead did one thing really well. Know of anymore resources worthy of being on the list? Drop in a comment and leave your thoughts!

UpPush.com is yet another of many free file hosting services out there that touts itself as being for “everybody”. They support .jpg, .gif, .png, .tiff, and .bmp uploads too so that almost covers all of your basic image formats.

The only regulations mentioned is “no adult content” which is reasonable and they are also the sister site to FileBig.com - a web site reviewed here a few days ago. UpPush is definitely worth checking out if you need a free image hosting resource that is both quick and easy to use.
