You have to like it when a website delivers what the promise in the domain name. theDomainSearch.com offers really simple domain name searching. All you need to do is type in the domain you want, and it will tell you if it is available and help you register it.

On that point alone, it serves as a handy way to search for domains. You can search to see if the .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .us, .eu, .in, .ca, .mobi, .name, or .tv version of any keyword is available. You can then check out the domain WHOIS info if the domain is not available or register the domain name through GoDaddy if it is available.

Another nice feature is that they promise not to log searches on the site, so you don’t have to worry about them picking up quality domains you find now, but don’t want to register till later.

Unfortunately though, that is all you get with this online tool. Is that enough to help theDomainSearch.com survive as a service? Try it out – and let me know what you think.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

On the Web Hosting Show podcast, we have done a lot of talking recently about web hosts that use Twitter, and how they use it. Some use it for support, others use it for marketing, and the best ones use it for both. Who are the most popular web hosts on Twitter though?

To put that question to the test, I thought I would compile a list of all the web hosts on Twitter that have over 1,000 followers. Out of nearly 100 web hosts on the Web, here are the 25 that made the cut.

WestHost Web Hosting (WestHost) on Twitter = 1,804 followers

The favorite part for me of the Super Bowl is the ads. Personally I could care less about football, just not my cup of tea. GoDaddy has always put out some memorable ads so I was excited to see what they had in store…

Here is the ad that ran durring the Super Bowl…

Which lead to this ad here (which FOX rejected because of the word “beaver”)…

Could have been better, but it did get a slight giggle out of me.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

I have seen a number of folks out there confused as to why they are getting E-mails from GoDaddy saying that they are their new domain name register. Well, afraid it isn’t a scam folks. GoDaddy seems to be willing to pick up the slack where <a href="http://www.hostsearch.com/news/the_go_daddy_group_news_5961.asp"">RegisterFly dropped the ball.

Web hosting and domain name provider Godaddy.Com is to receive domain name accounts from RegisterFly, it was announced this week. The move comes as a response to RegisterFly’s inability to maintain domain names registered by its customers and its subsequent loss of ICANN accreditation.

The company was the center of considerable controversy as its demise left thousands of domain name registrants stranded. Regsiterfly’s subscribers’ domains will automatically be moved to Go Daddy. On completion, over 850,000 domain names will have been transferred to Go Daddy.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Well, I can talk to you for ever on how bad GoDaddy’s Web hosting is but – as far as domains go, they are the king of the ring. So what do you think – is this fair or not?

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

I have to say that I am a little disappointed in GoDaddy’s Super Bowl commercial this year. In comparison with last year’s ad it just comes off as weak, and not really even that funny, great or clever.

I had been looking forward to seeing it, because the past two year’s commercials have a least gotten a chuckle out of me. This year, it was nothing. I was just left with the feeling of, “…is that it?”.

Maybe the whole GoDaddy Girl thing has run it’s course?

Personally, I was more amused by this gif ad I saw on TopHosts.com this morning.

Now the last time I said anything bad about GoDaddy’s Web hosting I got a phone call from somebody in a suit asking me why I would say such things about them. It is kind of a scary thought – at first I thought they might try to sue me or something.

I told them my problems with their services though and they listened. After they were done listening, they pretty much told me, “Well, this is the way things are and we like it that way” or something to that effect.

Go ahead and search Google, I know I am not alone here. I do not make fun of GoDaddy’s hosting because it is funny – I do it because I love them and I want them to get better. Just think of GoDaddy as the run away stray dog and me as the sheep herder. Not like I am going to hear from ol’ Bob on top of his golden domain palace – but I know somebody in GoDaddy headquarters will see me from way down here.

Once again, bLaugh does a good job at making my day. With GoDaddy’s most recent girl though, I think they were going for somebody with a smaller chest that Candice Michelle.

I can only image all of the good press that GoDaddy has gotten because of Candice’s deal with WWE. I know I have gotten dozens of hits every time I mention her in relation to the Web hosting world. Will that race car driver lady do as well? I don’t think so. I think GoDaddy has already had it and lost it.
