Here is Chris explaining the basics about Geeks:

It is a cool idea, and I like it thus far. We will see where it goes from here. If you want to give it a shot, feel free to make friends with me.

There is no doubt that the two “easy ways out” when it comes to Web popularity – you either know somebody famous that mentions your service or you. The second way would be to pay lots and lots of money on advertising. Other than that, building a “successful” brand on your own is really hard.

The main problem we suffer is that a lot of folks only focus on following the big voices Online. If somebody like Robert Scoble, Kevin Rose or Leo Laporte don’t mention it, use it, or give it a thumbs up you are dead to a lot of the world. That is not their fault, they are just folks Online as well that just happened to get lucky and gain a real voice out there in the geeky world we live in.

Firefox Facts gain most of its popularity because Chris Pirillo really helped inspire and lead me into the entire project from day one. So I have gotten a perk out of this type of popular voices driving the popular vote.

I’ve recently been actually spending money in promoting the Web Hosting Show in new audiences and I have to say it has been paying off a little ‘bit. Most of my projects are done as a hobby though – so not sure if I can count myself.

I do feel sorry for folks out there trying to build a business from the ground up because if your not on the A-list or know somebody on the A-list it is almost impossible to “make it”.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

When I have myself bogged down with too many projects, I get really stressed out. Like many of you out there, I have tried just about everything and anything to calm down and find the place where my yin is equal to my yang. Here are a few stress relief tips I have found helpful.

1. Soak your feet in a tub of warm water. For those of us who spend a lot of time working in front of the computer, you could slip a tub under your desk. Personally, I like to go to another room, because water and all those things plugged in under my desk really don’t mix too well.

2. Sticking with the water theme, go take a shower. Clearing your mind while washing yourself might sound kind of corny. It might even sound like something you would read out of a fortune cookie. I know after some of my five or six hour writing sessions, I get a lot of pleasure from just standing in the shower. That is as far as I will go there, because I know not everybody really wants the visual image of me standing in the shower.

3. Go outside and walk around for a while. Just about every morning I’ll take a break from my Online duties to go outside and walk around. This is really handy if you are trying to come up with something, and it just isn’t coming to you in front of your computer. Who knows you might see a tree limb, a blade of grass or a passing car that inspires you to create the next big thing Online.

4. Slurp yourself down a spoon full of honey. No, I am not going all Marry Poppins on you. Honey contains potassium and magnesium which will help relax the arteries and allow more blood to flow to the brain.

5. Mint tea is a must. I went through high school almost living on honey ginseng mint tea. Not really sure where the medical part comes in there to help you out.. but it works for me, so I promise you that it will work for you.

6. Get somebody to massage your neck and lower back. This one is a pretty obvious one, because these areas are where you carry a lot of your tension and stress. If you have no friends or loved ones who will do it for you – go back to my shower idea.

Have any more tips to share? How do you get rid of your stress? Leave me a comment and let us all in on your secrets of stress relief.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!
