Google apparently thinks so and has recently started to unleash Google+ onto the world. Google+ has a really great chance to steal some of the social networking fire away from Facebook. My only hope is that they do not drop the proverbial ball, as they did with Google Buzz.

So, what is so special about this new social network? The possibilities are endless.

Google is already the defacto place to turn for millions of people on the web. People will sign up for Google+ simply because Google says to do so. The invite only scheme that they have been pulling thus far is very similar to how they treated Gmail a few years back too. Make something rare to have and you will have even more people fighting to be a part of it.

The part of Google+ I am looking forward to the most is the integration with Google’s other services. From search, to documents and even video – sharing content with a specific group of people has never been easier. Google+ does a great job at giving you ways to organize your friends into groups (oh sorry, I mean "circles"), so that you can send one message to Group A and another message to Group B. Group A can not see what Group B saw, and vice versa.

It might be too early to say Google+ is better than Facebook. Hopefully Google+ will gain enough momentum to give Facebook a run for its money. Competition is good in any business, and Facebook has been standing alone in the social networking field for way too long.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

Making the right connections in business is a big part of the marketing game. You don’t need to have a multi-million dollar advertising campaign. You don’t even have to get a $2 advertising campaign going. One of the best marketing techniques out there is to simple stick your foot in the door. Make friends with people in businesses that can help you succeed.

Not to get into some circle of life mumbo-jumbo, but we are all connected. What you need to do is to find people and make friends that can help you out with your own marketing needs. Think of this as old school social network marketing.

As an example – lets say you are an artist. To broaden your reach and to give yourself chances to get your artwork published or bought elsewhere, you might become friends with the guy who runs the art exhibit at the local museum. You might become friends with local interior decorators to see if you can get your artwork picked up as something people would like to hang in their homes. There are so many different professions out there that are interconnected, you really can’t throw a stone without hitting somebody in the back of the head who can help you. You just have to sometimes think outside of the box.

The power of having a good social network of your own to lean upon can do wonders for anybody’s marketing needs. Not only can your friends help you with your business needs, you might also be able to return the favor, as well.

I have seen this Google Friend Connect service coming up more and more via the web sites I visit, so I thought I would look a little more into the service. Google wants to help you grow traffic by adding social features to your web site. Now how do you do it?

How Does Google Make Things More Social?

Once you setup a site with Google Friend Connect, you can select from a number of different widgets you can place on your site. When visitors sign up for your site through the friend connect service, they can do so via their login information with Google, Yahoo, AIM, or their OpenID account.

The idea here is to make your web site more social.

This video does a good job at giving a good summary of the entire service:

Overall, I think Google Friend Connect is something worth checking out and looking into. I like the openness of it all, and can’t wait to see more people use it so we can get more widgets developed for it.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

I was a little on the bored side yesterday afternoon after work, so I thought I would sign up for any place with the new SocialURL.com service.

For the most part it looks like many of the other MySpace clones out there. It allows you to make friends and send annoying little messages to each other.

I have to say it does seem better organized and better looking than MySpace, but a lot of the services out there are.

Saying you are better looking than MySpace is like saying you have the design skills of at least a cross-eyed midget that walks with a limp.

The thing that is suppose to set them apart is your ability to link to your profile on all these other social Web sites such as MySpace, LiveJournal, Blogger, Delicious, YouTube and more. Can’t I do that on any other “social experience” Web site by hand though?

+ Check Out My Profile on SocialURL!

It is an ok experience, but still does not have the audience or user base yet to be great. It’ll be interesting to see how they are doing a year from now.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Mitchelaneous Facebook Fan Page!

After the match, he called her into the ring and then got down on one knee and asked her if she would marry him. It is one of those moments that I wish I was there for, but thankfully it will be out on DVD pretty soon. I guess that would be one of the perks of proposing to your girl friend via a live wrestling event.

I am sure SB-1 Online will have full updates through the week of all that went on last night. Both Sean and Monica are two of my best friends, so I have nothing but the best to wish them. You couldn’t find two nicer people and two people more meant for each other.
