Register.com New Domain Search

Alright, I have seen my fair share of domain name searching tools. The newest animal to enter the pack is Register.com’s free advanced domain search tool. Yeah, I think they could have come up with a catchier name as well. So how does it work?

First you have to tell it what domain name you “wish” to have, and your first and last name. That seems simple enough right? Then you either go down the route of business or personal. Next you have to tell them what this Web site is going to be for. Is it going to be personal? Is it going to be for your family? Is it going to be for a celebration?

Moving on, you can enter a couple of extra keywords to be tossed in for kicks. Last but not least, you enter in your location – such as a town name or area you live in. After that is all said and done, hit “Find my Domain Name” and you are given a big long list of ones you can choose from.

All in all I think this is a pretty nice tool to help beginners walk through the process of picking the perfect domain name. The good side is it gives you a lot of results to choose from and an easy “drag and drop” so you can pick as many as you want before you buy. The bad news is that around the end of the search results, they start tossing in domain name choices that had nothing to do with your data you gave them.

Web Hosting Domains for Sale

I will probably be mentioning this in next week’s edition of the Web Hosting Show as well, but I figured I’d hit up my loyal readers first. How would you like to get your hands on some really grade A domain names? Well, I know of a few that are ready to be sold – for the right price, of course. They are:

  • HostNews.com
  • HostReference.com
  • HostCommunity.com
  • WebHostingMarket.com

Personally, I would love to grab all these up myself, but I just now started getting a good amount of cash flowing in, so launching a new project might not be in the cards. So here you go, I pass the deal along to all of you. If you are interested in buying any of these, hit up Matt Alland with an E-mail and see what type of deal you can work out.

Try Before You Buy Hosting

This press release over at WebHosting.info caught my eye this morning.

Facternet.com, a hosting provider, today launched a new service called Risk Free Facternet. The new service allows users to try Facternet’s premium hosting services before they buy it. Facternet gives visitors 20 days of web hosting on any of Facternet’s premium hosting services, and should the user decide that they do not wish to use Facternet, they can simply cancel their subscription and not be charged.

I like the idea of “try before you buy” Web hosting. Can you really learn all there is to learn in 20 days though? Facternet is also issuing anyone who tries Facternet’s Business or Corporate hosting packages a free domain name, which can be transferred to another provider for free should the user cancel.
