It looks like Ping! Zine has gone from a free Web hosting magazine to a “subscription” based one. This is big news because I think at least, it means they have a chance of becoming successful enough to charge for it. For the folks out there that still want one of the best hosting magazines for free though - I have a place to send you. Lets just keep this our little secret.

Do you want me to let you in on a little secret? Your favorite Online place to shop is not the place where you can get the best deals. Sure, you should shop where you feel comfortable, but you might be missing a lot of good offers if you do not look elsewhere. One of my new places to find the proverbial goods is SecretPrices.com.

Signing up for an affiliate program with your current Web host (if they offer one) is a really easy way to make a little cash and support the Web host you like. I have always been a big fan of “word of mouth” advertising, and affiliate programs make sure you get something back in return.
For Web hosts out there you might have to pay a little here and there - but in the long run you are brining in more customers with little or no cost to you. Taking what you have made and investing in a program like this could mean more clients in the future, which means even more money to give back to your biggest affiliate partners.
For Web hosting clients this is a nice way to earn a few bucks on the side. Just about every major Web host out there today has an affiliate hosting program, so finding one shouldn’t be apart of the problem. You might not be rolling in the cash by doing this - but it is a nice way to make a little extra money on the side.

Are you the guy that is always turned to when it comes to helping your friends get a Web site up and going?
If the answer is yes, then you might be missing out on a good deal that not too many people outside of the Web hosting industry know about. You could set yourself up a reseller hosting account and charge your friends whatever you want for doing their hosting with you. You could be your own little Web host.
+ How much money will I make?
Consider this, each Web site you buy from the Web host costs $5 a month to you. If you go back and charge your friend $7 for the service, then you are already making $2 a month profit. That is an extra $24 in your pocket after a year for doing what you would probably already be doing for free.
Now let us add in a few more friends, lets say you are hosting ten different Web sites for ten different plans. You charge each friend $7 a month and you are looking at a profit of $240 after one year.
You are already making that kind of cash and you only bumped the price up $2! Just think what the numbers would look like if you charge your buddies $10 or $20 a month for hosting plus your “costs” of keeping their Web sites up, running, and looking nice.
+ How do I get started making money?
Just about every Web host out there has a reseller Web hosting package for you to pick. For a good place to search for Web hosting in general - I would recommend checking out FindMyHosting.com. You might also ask around at places like WebHostingChat.com and see which places get you the best deals.

Media Temple does a lot of popular blog Web hosting, so it is no surprise that it seems like everybody is crawling up their butts when it comes to this new announcement they made. I wouldn’t exactly say that they are “crushing” shared hosting, but it is a nice offer toss out there for the public to use.
Speaking to somebody who deals with the real world of Web hosting, $20 a package is still a little on the expensive side for most Web hosting customers.
They are offering a lot, but I doubt they expect anybody to really use it. The details include “100 GB of storage, 1 TB of bandwidth and up to 100 individual Web sites”. This is really over selling and over advertising.
Now I am not saying it isn’t smart business - because it is. These kinds of moves gain you a lot of attention, and in the Web hosting industry attention is priceless. Something tells me though to remain skeptical because when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I will probably be mentioning this in next week’s edition of the Web Hosting Show as well, but I figured I’d hit up my loyal readers first. How would you like to get your hands on some really grade A domain names? Well, I know of a few that are ready to be sold - for the right price, of course. They are:
- HostNews.com
- HostReference.com
- HostCommunity.com
- WebHostingMarket.com
Personally, I would love to grab all these up myself, but I just now started getting a good amount of cash flowing in, so launching a new project might not be in the cards. So here you go, I pass the deal along to all of you. If you are interested in buying any of these, hit up Matt Alland with an E-mail and see what type of deal you can work out.
