Happy 5th Birthday to Mitchelaneous.com

Firefox isn’t the only thing celebrating it’s fifth birthday this year.  This very blog, Mitchelaneous.com, is also now half a decade old.  As one of my oldest web sites still in existence, I have much love for the web site that really inspired me to write more.

Mitchelaneous back in 2004

Thanks to the powers of the Wayback Machine, here is the earliest layout I can find for Mitchelaneous (then hosted as a part of the lockergnome.net blogs). Actually, you could probably say that Chris Pirillo (and the old Lockergnome team of writers) played a big part in this web site’s existence.

Remember Those Birthdays via a RSS Feed

Never Forget Another Birthday!

Always finding yourself forgetting your loved one’s birthday?  Well, forget no longer with the help of RSS Birthday.  This new web site will allow you to create a customized RSS feed with birthday reminders.  Once created, you can get the birthday reminders delivered to you – so you’ll never forget again.

Personally, I use Google Calendar for this type of thing, and set it up as a yearly reminder, however it is good to have alternatives.  Also, RSS Birthday could be handy in organizing all the birthdays you need to remember in one spot.  So that is another advantage that it has.

So if you want to get reminded about that up and coming birthday before it happens, check out RSSBirthday.net and sign up.  It is a quick and easy way to always remember that special date.

My Birthday Present for You… Freaks!

Since today is my birthday, I had to find something extra special to get for all of you.  Yes, I know birthdays usually work the other way around – but hey, I am a giving kind of guy. So what better to hand you than another public domain favorite movie of mine, Freaks.

It is a horror movie about sideshow performers.  Instead of using makeup and actors though, the films director (and producer) Tod Browning hired actual carnival performers.  That, in its own right, makes it even stranger.  The film was also banned in the United Kingdom for thirty years.

3 Years of Podcasting

This week marks the 3rd birthday of the Web Hosting Show podcast. Three years later and 143+ podcasts recorded, I think we are still going strong and thankfully can continue to say we are the number one web hosting podcast out there today and the one and only voice of the web hosting world.

Here is a little more of what to look forward to on episode 143:

It is not only my birthday, but it is your birthday too. The Web Hosting Show has been rocking the web hosting industry for three year now, and hopefully for many more years to come. No surprises, no special guests no fluff will be here today though. I am just going to do my job and give you a grade A podcast you will soon not forget.

Download the Web Hosting Show, Episode 143!

Thanks to one and all that have helped make the Web Hosting Show a winner.

Another Year Older

Tomorrow is my 24th Birthday. :) So am I happy after 24 years? Yeah, I think I am pretty pleased with myself. I figured this would be as good of a time as any to go through some of my projects as of late.

Mitchelaneous
This blog has seen a lot of change here recently. If you haven’t visited it in a while, please do so because I spent the last few days changing the styles around a little ‘bit. I like the much “cleaner” interface much more than the old one. Give me your feedback and thoughts.

Firefox Facts
Well I am happy to say that we are less than 1,000 downloads away from the Firefox Facts eBook hitting the 20,000 downloads mark. Once again I’d like to thank Lockergnome for setting this whole project into motion for me.

I’d also like to thank each and every one of you for downloading it this many times. So tell your neighbor, tell your family, tell your dog to go download the best free eBook on Mozilla Firefox and lets get that download number even higher!

The Web Hosting Show
My podcast is going good as well, which is nothing new. I just posted my 80th official edition of the show, but I have recorded and posted more than 100 audio segments to the Web site over this “almost” two year period.

So many other podcasts have gone by the wayside, and I still claim that I am the number one Web hosting podcast out there today.

Hosting Hoopla
The Web’s only Web hosting news and link reader hasn’t seen many updates as of late, due to other projects coming first. I have had some talks about selling it to the highest bidder as well. If you are interested, shoot me over a line and we will talk.

MitchKeeler.com
OK, so there hasn’t been any real update here. Just a few weeks ago I installed WordPress here, did some editing to the template files, and now have WordPress running my static Web site. I would post how I did it, but it involved a lot of, “Does this work? No… How about this?”. I don’t think that would be traffic driving content.

Now on top of all that, I am also working as a moderator for Lunarpages and Web Hosting Chat. I also have a few contributing writer credits at both Lockergnome and the Web hosting magazine, Ping! Zine. So as you can see, I am more than able to stay busy at my new “old” age.
