Right now Vladstudio.com is having a special Valentine’s Day deal. You can just $19.99 (usual price is $29.99) to get a lifetime membership to the site. I have always been a big fan of this site - but didn’t use it much since the free stuff is rather limited.

With a paid membership though you get higher quality wallpaper and the usual watermark is removed. I am a big believer in supporting people who bring you excellent content for almost nothing and with a deal like this, how could you turn it down?

I just got my Wacom Graphire4 4×5 USB Tablet via the UPS guy (that is probably damn tired of delivering packages to my house already) yesterday. Really haven’t had enough time yet to give you a good review - but I’ll hit on some high points being a “first time tablet” excited fanboy.
Cool Software Bundle
The first nice perk is it comes with several software packages - the best being Adobe Photoshop Elements 3. Not sure if I am ready to use it to retire my old Paint Shop Pro 7 - but it might happen.
Sturdy Product, Class Act Packaging
Unpacking things at times felt like I was going through a maze with all the folds, protection and levels of plastic I had to go through to get it out of the box. The pen, mouse and tablet pad are all good solid products too. They have some weight to them - and do not feel cheap in any way.
It might take a while to get used to holding the pen correctly, other than that I am good to go.
Installing the Wacom Graphire4
Installation could not have been easier. I just plugged it in, installed the drivers (on my Windows XP box) and I was done. Might need to configure the touch settings and sensitivity of the pen but I plan on playing with it a little more this weekend. Also says it is Windows Vista ready all over the packaging for the box - so the future should be bright with this device.
All in all I am highly impressed thus far. Always wanted one of these so I figured, why not spoil myself a little ‘bit.

[fa:p:a=mitchs-doodles,id=229451662,j=r,s=sq,l=i]Last week I uploaded a bunch of my old drawings and doodles I found while cleaning out a closet. I had forgotten about some of it, and looking at it makes me wish I could find time to draw as much as I used to.

Flash image viewers are becoming more and more popular these days. I ran across one today that is as good as some of the big expensive ones out there, but it is available for you for no price at all.
SimpleViewer is a easily customizable gallery viewer. I have been looking for something like this to display some of my art on a future project. This project might not be as updated as some others, so I do not need a really complicated way of posting things. I just need an easy interface that I can slap images into. SimpleViewer does just that.

For the most part, I have to say I am pretty happy with the redesign of Deviant Art. Things look much cleaner as far as interface goes. I also see they have tossed in a few RSS feeds as well. This morning I played around with updating my profile there (which I had not touched for over a year) and it all went smooth.
The only place I have a problem is when it comes to searching for images by resolution. I used to like to search for computer wallpaper there, and it was handy to cut them down to resolutions that only matched mine. Right now I don’t see a way you can get that done. Maybe one of you can point me to the right place.
Other than that one little problem, everything else is super! It makes me want to go out there and create just that much more!
