Force Yourself to Get More Done!

To Do Lists

I always love to try out new to-do list applications and web sites, because I am a ‘bit of an organizational nut.  With that in mind, I recently started checking out ForcedDo and I am pretty happy with the results.

ForceDo is much more than just your common to-do list.  The thing that is special here is that you set mini deadlines in minutes for yourself.  Once you hit the “play” button for a to do list item, your clock starts and you see how much time you have left right there on the screen.  You can kind of think of it as forcing yourself to become more productive.

Here is a little more information about how to get started from the ForceDo web site:

The key is to split a BIG task into smaller tasks + set priorities + set the (estimated) duration of a task. Lets say, you have a task "Write a blog article". You may have all the plan and ideas in your head about the article, you simply start writing. Thats OK, but if you are a perfectionist you may write the article for 5 hours or never get ready.

Need to organize your time better?  Check out ForceDo.com and get yourself motivated to get some things done.

More Metroid Wallpaper

In my top ten video games of all time, the Metroid series would have to be somewhere in the top five at least.  Due to the popularity of my first Metroid-themed wallpaper find, I thought I would search the Internet for more Samus Aran goodness.  Enjoy!

Instant Drama Sound Effect

I’ve talked in the past about two of my favorite instant sound effect web sites, InstantRimshot.com and SadTrombone.com.  However, did you know there are more of these popping up?

The Drama Button!

My new favorite web site, when you need that instant sound effect action is DramaButton.com.  Once pushed, you get that duh duh DUHHHH that has always been a favorite for the old dramatic moments on your favorite old TV shows and movies.

Load up the web site, say these phrases out loud and then hit the button to test it out.

I’m sorry John, but your baby is really… a robot! (hit button)

I am afraid John, your wife has amnesia and she is… a robot! (hit button)

Yes John, you are fired.  Your new replacement will be… a robot! (hit button)

I could keep going, but you get the effect, the sound effect that is, over at DramaButton.com.

HTML Validation Made Easy

While looking for an easy to use desktop application to do some HTML validating on a layout I was working on, I ran across CSE HTML Validator Lite.  This tiny program does a lot when it comes to checking HTML syntax.

CSE HTML Validator Lite Preview

Some of the other features that CSE HTML Validator Lite provides are:

  • Check spelling.
  • Quickly change all tags and attributes to lowercase.
  • Automatically place quotation marks around all attribute values.
  • Strip HTML tags from HTML documents, leaving only the text.
  • Quickly change all the headers and/or footers of every page of your web site when you design your pages using the template tool.

Now it should be said that this program is the little brother to CSE HTML Validator Professional, which comes with a few more bells and whistles, however CSE HTML Validator Lite has enough features without feeling the need to upgrade to the “pro” version right away.

Split Your Desktop into Virtual Work Areas

maxto-screenshot Short of taking a chainsaw to your monitor, all Evil Dead like, there aren’t a lot of good ways to split it up into multiple regions to make working an organized experience.  Thanks to Ryan over at Cybernetnews.com I can put my chainsaw away, and get to using MaxTo.  MaxTo will help you split your current monitor into virtual regions, that can serve as a constraint when maximizing windows.

Once you install it, the setup is pretty easy to understand.  You just setup how you want you desktop to be split, hit the OK button and it is done.  If you find yourself overwhelmed by having too many programs or windows floating around your desktop – give MaxTo a shot.  Previously I had been doing this same type of desktop reorganization on my own, but MaxTo does it for me – and in turn saves me a lot of tweaking time.

3 Best Free Ragdoll Games Online

Games that have fun with ragdoll physics have always been fun for me to play.  Here are three of the best games that you can play online for free, right now, that excel in being really fun.

Ragdoll Cannon

This one is pretty simple.  Ragdoll Cannon has you shooting your men out of a cannon to hit the target.  As the game progresses, the targets get harder and harder to reach.  If you master this one, you might also try Ragdoll Cannon 1.5 and RagDoll Cannon Remake.

Ragdoll Avalanche II

Ragdoll Avalanche II will have you dragging your ragdoll man back and forth using the arrow keys to dodge the falling spikes.  Hit a spike and you get sliced up.  The point of the game is to see how long you can last.

Double Wires

Ready for crappy graphics, but great game play?  Check out Double Wires.  This game lets you pretend you’re Spiderman, but without any of the copyright infringement.  Use the left mouse button to swing, but don’t fall – cause then it will be game over for you buddy.

Know of another? Add it to the list – or better yet, let me know how far you got on each of these games.

Down Right Creepy Mario Wallpaper

Why is it that we are all kind of amused by making Nintendo’s favorite plumber, Mario, so darn creepy looking?  There have been some real oddities posted out there in the past that have put a new light on the overall wearing hero,  but this one might take the cake on being the creepiest thus far.

mario2-wallpaper1

Here is what the artist in question, Rob Sheridan had to say about this oddity of a masterpiece.

I never felt like I’d quite finished the Mario portrait I did a couple weeks ago. The background was rushed and I didn’t have time to make the bricks change over as they should have. So since it proved to be so popular, I figured it was worth expanding upon a little bit.

Download de Desktop Icon of de Blob

One of the most unique games I have played via my Wii in the past few months was de Blob

A kind of platforming puzzle experience, the game allows you to explore, and be creative all over the place.  The main character of de Blob though is just awesome.  With that said, I thought I would feature him, her… it?  Confusing aside, here is a desktop icon free for you to use, download, share or paint any color you wish.

deblobDownload the de Blob Icon (.zip)

The icon is compatible with the following sizes: 256 x 256, 128 x 128, 64 x 64, 48 x 48, 32 x 32, 24 x 24, 16 x 16. It is also in both .ico and .png formats.
