Quickly Share any Song

Taking the link shortening service to a new level, TinySong allows you to type in the name of any song and get a shortened link to it to share with others.  For example, lets say I knew you were in the mood for some Van Halen (with David Lee Roth of course, Sammy Hagar is not welcomed here).  Now I go to TinySong.com and type in “Jump”.  The number two result there is “Jump” by Van Halen.  Click on that and your done.

Now I can share that song with all of you here:

http://tinysong.com/4Gq

Of course this makes sharing song recomendations REALLY easy.  This is all powered by Grooveshark, which is an awesome service in it own right that is well worth checking out too.  Go give TinySong a test to see if it can pull up the song you have stuck in your head right now…

Day 10 – Dealing with HP Support

Been a few days since I had heard back from HP about my PC they have their hands on (and are hopefully fixing back up).  Just as I was about to give them a phone call – I get an e-mail in giving me the same details I already knew about my order and at the bottom this new nugget of information:

Hewlett-Packard Receipt of Defective
Receipt Date of Defective Product:             05/27/2008
Expected Delivery Date:                        06/05/2008

Now I know from the FedEx tracking code I have that the 27th is when they got my PC to their HQ.  So does that mean I should be getting it back on the 5th of next month and it is going to take over a week to fix?  Maybe I’ll still get lucky and they’ll ship it back by the end of the week.

I love my laptop, but really missing having my PC here too.

Mitch’s WiiWare and Virtual Console Collection (thus far)

I still have a little more room on my Wii for games, but I am coming close to having to ditch some previously downloaded titles for some new ones.  Give me a couple more months, then I’ll join the chorus of people asking more disk space on the Wii (either via the SD card or by adding an external hard drive).

Here is my WiiWare and Virtual Console Collection so far…

  • Super Mario 64 – Childhood memory, spend many an hour on this game.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog – Never had a Sega, so thought I’d give it a shot.
  • Sim City – Seems to be slower than I remembered.
  • Contra III: The Alien Wars – Awesome fun, but really hard without a friend.
  • Super Castlevania IV – One of the best Castlevania games to this day.
  • Super Mario Bros. – Who doesn’t have this one downloaded?
  • Internet Browser – Handy to check Gmail and Google Reader on.
  • Mario Kart 64 – Fun, might might not make the cut if I need the room.
  • Kid Icarus – Another (never played it the first time) game but happy I have it now.
  • Everybody Votes Channel – Removed it since I only checked it out once or twice.
  • Splatterhouse – Gory fun, but still lacks something…
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream – Fun boxing fun, where did Mike Tyson go?
  • Castlevania – Maybe it’s just me, but this is really hard!
  • Super Metroid – Could play this one forever, over and over again.
  • Super Mario Bros. 3 – Best multi-player Mario game to date.
  • Check Mii Out Channel – Removed it too, due to never using it for anything.
  • River City Ransom – Reminds me of a bad 80′s movie in a good way.
  • Defend your Castle – Well worth the $5 spent on it, and highly addictive.
  • Dr. Mario Online Rx – I needed a puzzle game, and Dr. Mario delivers flawlessly.

Anything else I should check out?

Mitchelaneous Theme Tweak Up

Yesterday I spend a little time playing around with my WordPress theme here, looking at adding widgets to themes that didn’t come “pre-designed” with them in mind.  Thankfully for people like me Automattic has a great tutorial on how to get this done.  Along with adding a few more features, support for gravatars and a third column I promise this version of the layout has 10% more awesomeness.

Wii Fit isn’t THAT Bad!

I love reading the opinions of others all of the Web. It seems like before Wii Fit came out, nobody could stand the wait and everybody wanted to play. Now that it is out, about half the people who wanted it are trying to find ways to shoot it down. Well I can say for myself, I have it (and the balance board) and I still love it.

Having spent two days with it – I can give it my two thumbs up. Sure, it isn’t going to make me into a body builder, but with the job I do I need something that gets me up and moving. My nine to five job is sitting right here writing articles or answering questions. Not a lot of physical movement there (my fingers could totally whoops yours though). The past two days I have looked forward to working out with Wii Fit for 30 minutes or so, so for me it has been a perfect fit.

Best review or resource I have read thus far actually comes from MTV. The walkthrough with a real physical trainer gives you an insight on what you should and should not expect.

An Odd Way to Tell the Time?

Ready for a riddle? See if you can tell me what time it is here…

analogy-clock

Here is a little more about what this clock is and how do you tell time on it?

Analogy is a typographic clock which explores the numerical and spatial qualities of digital and analogue clocks. This piece considers the relationship between the two, fusing them together to create a new hybrid format. It gives an everyday object a twist to make it something that people will notice.

They say a screensaver is coming soon – which is what I am waiting for personally. How about you? Check out the Analogy clock at Jessonyip.com.

Make Your Life More Like a Sitcom

MP320_113-1 I miss the old television sitcoms where they had fake laughter of a studio audience mixed in or other various sound effects you just don’t get on today’s TV shows. If you too long for adding some of these sound effects to your own life keep these bookmarks handy:

InstantRimshot.com – Say something funny? Have this shinny red button ready to at least keep yourself amused when others don’t laugh.

SadTrombone.com – On the other side of the spectrum you have the ever popular, sad trombone. Keep it within your mouse’s reach when you mess up and want to let the world know of this sad sad event.

Many thanks to DS for finding these secret treasures of the Internet. Now all we need is the “Whooooooo” for when people used to kiss on TV. Any takers?

Day 2 – Dealing with HP Support

Well not much as changed, with my melted PC – so thought instead I’d make a few observations thus far:

  • HP has yet to update the “status” page where I can check into the progress of all of this. With the FedEx tracking number though I do know my box should be here sometime before 4pm on Wednesday.
  • I was impressed with HP’s online support. I explained my issue, showed them the pictures and they told me they’d setup a pickup for it, fix it or replace it and then send it back. They have also promised it would all take 7 to 9 days too.
  • I am pretty sure I grabbed all my important documents. I copied them over to an external hard drive and then copied from there to my laptop – so all my bases should be covered there. Will probably try to do the reformat and re-install of Windows Vista tonight so it will be ready to box up and go.

Should be getting Wii Fit tomorrow too, so it should be fun to see if the UPS guy has a run in with the FedEx guy. As long as they keep their brawl out in the street, I don’t mind.
