Free Icon Downloads at IconsPedia

There are a lot of icon resources out there, but not many that make their name on being a free resource for all to use. That is what IconsPedia wants to bring to the designers’ work bench.

Free Icons with IconsPedia

Have have tons of png icon packs ready for download and use. If the icons are published under a certain license (such as free to use, for personal use only) then they should say so on that icon package’s download page. If you would like to share some of your own icons – you can submit to there too.

Candice Michelle – Unseen Super Bowl Ad

Well it looks like GoDaddy did do a Super Bowl ad with Candice Michelle in it – they just didn’t show it during the Super Bowl… does that count? Oh well, who cares. Like I need a reason to watch more Candice Michelle. :P

Here is the uncut version of the Candice Michelle 2008 Super Bowl ad:

I like this one a little more than the one they actually showed for GoDaddy during the Super Bowl. Anybody else agree with me?

Smplr Way to Start Your Day

Need a simpler way to start your web browsing experience? One of the most original start pages I have seen in a long time is smplr.

Simplr Start Page

Yep, that is it. No boxes, no RSS and nothing else to distract you. How do you use it? Type in certain keywords or phrases and it does the work for you. Here are all the commands you can use:

These are the triggers that smplr currently supports. Type one, followed by a query. go:(open a supplied url), y:(yahoo), news:(google news), w:(weather, zip code only), wiki:(wikipedia), film:(imdb), tv:(epguide), mmm:(recipes), wow:(thottbot), ebay:(ebay), game:(mobygames), bt:(thepiratebay), buy:(pricegrabber), stock:(yahoo finance), blog:(technorati), snopes:(urban legends)

They also have several themes you can pick from too – changing the background picture. All in all smplr is one unique way to start your browsing experience that can at least say it is copying nobody else out there in the start page world.

Super Bowl 2008 GoDaddy Ads

The favorite part for me of the Super Bowl is the ads. Personally I could care less about football, just not my cup of tea. GoDaddy has always put out some memorable ads so I was excited to see what they had in store…

Here is the ad that ran durring the Super Bowl…

Which lead to this ad here (which FOX rejected because of the word “beaver”)

Could have been better, but it did get a slight giggle out of me.

Link Popularity Checker

Want to see how popular you are on the Web? I recently found a pretty neat program that checks your popularity against some other web sites that you might be competing against for eyeballs out there on the Web. Link Popularity Check does an alright job and giving you the facts and figures you need.

Once you get Link Popularity Check installed, this is the type of readout they deliver to you:

Link Popularity Check

The positive of this program is it gives you a nice visual representation of where you stand out there with some of your competitors. It searches Google, HotBot, AllTheWeb and MSN search. The downside is that you have to put up with some advertisements and be careful not to give your e-mail address to their “newsletter”. As you can see a lot of information there to comb through to find out what is working and what you might need to work on.

Free Graphic Hosting with UpPush

UpPush.com is yet another of many free file hosting services out there that touts itself as being for “everybody”. They support .jpg, .gif, .png, .tiff, and .bmp uploads too so that almost covers all of your basic image formats.

UpPush Free File Hosting

The only regulations mentioned is “no adult content” which is reasonable and they are also the sister site to FileBig.com – a web site reviewed here a few days ago. UpPush is definitely worth checking out if you need a free image hosting resource that is both quick and easy to use.
