Netvibes vs iGoogle

Netvibes WinsI have been playing with a number of start pages these days, and I have to say I am about ready to make a switch. It seems like over time iGoogle seems to be getting slower to load. I don’t have many things on it – maybe four thingies, widgets, gadgets.

So now I am looking at some of the competition and I have to say only one has impressed me thus far.

Netvibes is becoming king of the start pages, if you like customization, speed and cool tools to use. Now I don’t need a lot to get going – but it is nice to see they have tons of tools to add.

What does Netvibes Have that iGoogle Does Not?

  • More Customization Options for the Web Page
  • Quicker Loading Times Overall

Only reason I can see for using iGoogle is to use their specialty gadgets for Gmail and Google Reader. So am I making the right choice? Is there one that even blows Netvibes out of the water?

  1. Hi,

I think that Netvibes is the best at the moment.
I rated it in April at 65/100.

Try it, you will see a lot of new uses.

  2. I use Netvibes as my home page and love it. It’s extremely flexible and allows me to put a ton of things that I use very frequently all in one place. Definite thumbs up from me!

    Try Pageflakes

    http://www.pageflakes.com

I like being able to read and write emails on it, and all the plugins.

  4. Agree with you. I started to look at Netvibes and I like it. And maybe I like it more than igoogle. Since i have hot mail, yahoo mail, gmail. It is easier to use Netvibes. But I can not live without igoogle for google reader and gmail, and my google custom searches. Most of the time, you just can not use only one: gmail is better, but yahoo finance is great. Google search is the king, but Flickr is nice. Facebook is great, but I have to use wordpress for my blogging.

  5. I’ve used Pagaflakes for a while now, but am considering heading over to iGoogle because it syncs perfectly with my Gmail, Gcal, etc. We’ll see how it goes!
