I am a bad speller. It has been mentioned here before and will probably be mentioned here again. I am a horrible speller - yet, on my tax returns my occupation is “writer”. How can this be? Well thanks to technology I am no longer “spelling impaired”.
For those of you out there that find yourself in the same borat boat as me, one neat tool to check for mistakes is SpellJax.
Using Firefox is easier, I think. Just type your text in a dialog box with the correct dictionary installed (not just English), and it’ll underline any unrecognised words in red. 
I’d have to say I agree - Firefox has a built-in spellchecker and it’s very convenient. But the problem with FF is that its spellchecker is not very accurate. Some the suggestions it gives are way off.
Gmail’s spellchecker is far better, and Spelljax seems to be identical to the one in Gmail.
