Well it looks like one of my favorite Web hosting “middle man” Web sites is possibly being sold.
Geek Certified is a good support certification outfit inside of the hosting industry. The best thing that they do is moderation for support between Web hosts and Web hosting clients.
So why sell a good business? Well it looks like the reason might be because they never charged user fees to the Web hosts or hosting clients, and they can not afford to keep the service up and running.
That’s a death nail that not enough of us think about till it is too late, I’m afraid.
So what does the future look like for Geek Certified? Well, I hope it is picked up by somebody who will really do something with it. Too many hosting Web sites these days are being bought out just for the sake of saying you own the service, then it sits there and nothing is done with it.
For the companies out there that have been certified by them this might be something to keep your eye on. You want to make sure they stay fair and active - because nobody is going to want to associate themselves with the product if it goes downhill from here.
