Nintendo DS vs Sony PSP?

I finally got my new toy in the mail yesterday. What is that toy? A Nintendo DS Lite! Now that I own a Nintendo DS Lite and a PlayStation Portable I think I am pretty ready to do a side by side comparison.

Good Things About Nintendo DS Lite

1. Original and Different Way of Playing Games.
2. Bright Screen - I Would Say Even Brighter Than the PSP.
3. All Your Favorite Old School Titles Will Be or Are There.

Good Things About the PlayStation Portable

1. It Can Act as a Portable Media Machine as Well with Photos, Music and Videos.
2. More Functionality With Homebrew and Custom Firmwares.
3. A Different Game Libary - Good Games There Too.

Which is better? As you can see both have their good points, so I would have to say it has to do with what you want from your portable gaming experience. If you want fun and different I would pick a Nintendo DS Lite. If you want a media manager and good looking games - go with the PlayStation Portable.

Great comparison!

I’ve owned Nintendo DS and PSP since there release dates (i’m a nut for the handhelds) and both have their good points.

PSP feels like your watching in HD/LCD, while the DS allows me to play the games I’ve loved for years.

Right now I’m playing Mario Kart DS for the Nintendo DS and Mortal Kombat for PSP.

What games have you bought for your DS so far?

I picked up the new Super Mario Bros when I ordered it. Since the DS was late, I had to look at the game for a few days before I got the console - that aside though I love it. Just feels a little short. Trying to “pace” myself so I don’t zoom through it too quickly. :)

Good thinking. I’ve been taking my time through games lately. Its a good break for feed reading and posting on my site, but I try not to get carried away.

Is New Super Mario Bros. the one that was designed to be exactly like the originals as far as game play? If so, I’ve heard great reviews on that one and am thinking about picking it up when I can afford it.

I’m probably just old school, but I’ve found I don’t like the modern 3-D games as much as the ones I played growing up, with the exception of fighting and sports games. I think New Super Mario Bros was a great idea by Nintendo and glad to see people are supporting it.

Mario Kart DS is a must buy if you like the series. Its better than the TV console ones! :)
