I tried keeping my life organized with Google Browser Sync for a few weeks. Laptop, Home Desktop, Work Destop. Worked great... until it didnt. Bookmark list got completely destroyed. Duplicates everywhere, entire folders deleted, some marked read only so I couldnt move them.

I'd highly recommend against it. Bloody thing lost at least 10% of my bookmarks, and like 4 hours reorganizing everything.

I'm now switched to Foxmarks. Worked great for a week. Who knows if it'll fuck me over like google's addon did. I'm taking daily backups just in case.

Things are changing. I am very impressed with the progress of Windows Live. Microsoft is doing a right balance between Web and Desktop.
Check this alexa link to see the trend in traffic of major portal after introduction of Windows Live. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?site0=live.com&site1=msn.com&site2=google.com&site3=yahoo.com&site4=&y=r&z=3&h=300&w=610&range=1y&size=Medium&url=live.com

I agree, I'm slowly migrating away from applications on my desktop to web based alternatives. I tend to leave Firefox open in full screen mode all the time.

However, there are still a few nagging applications that I just can't abandoned. What I've been trying to figure out if there's a way I can create a bookmark in Firefox that executes them. Unfortunately, links create a download.

Yeah, I know the security issues of allowing the browser to execute code on the PC is more than a small nightmare (It's a huge one). But if there were just some way where I could say "yes I know this is a problem, but for this case I authorize it anyway." Then I could make that annoying start menu disappear forever.

I agree with you on Google's Browser Sync - that is how I keep my life organized between my desktop PC here and my laptop. :)

Why do you use Yahoo as opposed to Gmail? Just curious, maybe I'm missing something.

Personally, I've tried quite a few different RSS readers and (especially for high-volume,) none of them compare to Netvibes in my opinion. I subscribe to a lot of feeds, and Netvibes does it like no other.

I'm having a hard time getting into the online text editors like Google Docs, but I'm sure I'll make the jump once they get better.

I switched from Trillian to Meebo almost a year ago and never looked back. I don't like having unnecessary programs installed, and with a fast connection, Meebo won't disappoint.

Another great thing is with tools like Foxmarks and Google Sync, you can take your browser with you wherever you go.
