[...] I might have given them a rib or two when they first started, but I do have to say that the WHIR’s blog section is getting better over time. I have really been enjoying some of the content they have been putting up the last few weeks and I hope there is more good content to come. [...]

Okay, Mitch, here you raise an interesting question you didn't raise in the earlier post.

I can see first-hand from the stats that plenty of people are reading the WHIR blogs, but so far only a few are posting comments. Why?

I think the relative shortage of user comments on the WHIR blogs is the result of a couple of things. First, I think the blogs are just starting to get rolling, since they're less than three weeks old. More importantly, I think WHIR readers are not used to interacting with the publication. Part of the reason we started the blogs was to give readers a forum not just for feedback, but to contribute their own ideas.

And I hope that by posting comments on each other's blogs, we can help to get the ball rolling with more user comments. Actually (and here's something that actually IS funny) I think this little interaction between you and I may help to spark some more user input too.

Now, if I may, I'd like to clear up a couple things:

First, with regard to the previous comment, I think it's pretty clear that I didn't put Mitch down. In fact, I referred to him as "a nice guy," which he is. He criticized. I just explained where I thought he was mistaken.

Secondly, Mitch, I understand you're saying there was no "negative meaning" to the comments in your first post, but I find it pretty difficult to believe I've somehow misinterpreted the phrase: "They are sitting around and commenting on each others different posts so they look more busy."

You seemed concerned, and I wanted to make sure you understood what we're doing.
