Media Temple Grid Server

Media Temple does a lot of popular blog Web hosting, so it is no surprise that it seems like everybody is crawling up their butts when it comes to this new announcement they made. I wouldn’t exactly say that they are “crushing” shared hosting, but it is a nice offer toss out there for the public to use.

Speaking to somebody who deals with the real world of Web hosting, $20 a package is still a little on the expensive side for most Web hosting customers.

They are offering a lot, but I doubt they expect anybody to really use it. The details include “100 GB of storage, 1 TB of bandwidth and up to 100 individual Web sites”. This is really over selling and over advertising.

Now I am not saying it isn’t smart business – because it is. These kinds of moves gain you a lot of attention, and in the Web hosting industry attention is priceless. Something tells me though to remain skeptical because when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
