Time Management With To Do Lists

crazy-mitch-small.jpgSince I started my new job, I have been trying to manage my time better. I have a bad habit of putting things off till the last minute, and then spending an entire day working on things that I could have spread out a little better. So what was the solution to my time management issues?

Well so far, making lists of things for me to do has been working. I have a daily to do list with all the things I need to do every single day. For other tasks that I do day by day, I have a daily to do list for each day of the week.

So I might have five things I need to do every single day that is on my daily to do list, and everything else gets spread out on smaller to do lists for the days of the week.

So far it has been working out. The only hard part about it all is making myself stick with it, so I don’t have a boatload of work left for me at the end of the week.

Addicted to Civilization IV

civ.jpgAfter I bought my new laptop, I wanted to get something fun to play on it. I have always been a big fan of the entire Civilization series, so I picked up Civilization IV. I’ll tell you the truth, right from the start this game makes it hard to do anything else! I have forgotten to eat, I have forgotten to sleep… I must take over the world!

Having played just about every Civilization game there has been, I do have to say that this one is the best in the series so far. The series still keeps me addicted and excited after all these years.

Start With Lunarpages on Monday

hdr_logo.jpgWell, I guess it is about time I said something public about this. After my offer to the world for my “professional services” more than a few folks came out and offered me a job. I have to thank everybody who did so, and I wish I could work for you all. After much debate though, I decided to go with Lunarpages.com. Starting tomorrow, I am going to be working on their forums and doing pre-sales chat for them. I know, it isn’t the biggest job in the world, but I didn’t want too much work. I just wanted a 9 to 5 type job to where I could keep doing my writing, and get some extra cash on the side.

It has been two years since I last worked in this type of job, but I think as soon as I get used to it again, all should be well. Customer support is like riding a bicycle, right?

I Want To Play With Ghosts N Goblins

pack-l.jpgIt has been a really long time since I first played Ghosts N Goblins on my old Super Nintendo. Hearing that a new version came out for the PlayStation Portable, I am more than a little excited.

E3, LOS ANGELES ¾ May 10, 2006 — The beloved armored Arthur, with his renowned boxers in tow, charges onto the portable gaming scene as Capcom® today presented Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins™ , an exciting side-scrolling action adventure game for the PSP™ (PlayStation ® Portable) system. Created by members of the original Ghost ‘n Goblins team, the long awaited fourth installment to the favored franchise sees the triumphant return of valiant knight, Sir Arthur, as he must save the princess from the clutches of evil. Specifically recreated from the ground up, witness the evolution of the series with the inclusion of exciting upgrades and new gameplay features, all the while retaining the legendary qualities reminiscent to the property. Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins is scheduled for release throughout North America in Q3 2006.

In Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Arthur’s heroic battle with the underworld was finally over and the entrance to the realm was sealed. So he thought. Time passes and unknowing to mankind, the dark lord has awaken from his slumber and kidnaps the princess in an effort to conquer the human world. Arthur must set off for the evil forest, the gateway to the underworld, to save the princess from imminent doom and keep the devil as well as his minions at bay. The excitement and intensity of the forerunner continues as our armored hero takes on this new challenge for the sake of humanity.

With the use of a 3D graphics engine , the Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins world comes alive as effects, cutscenes, backgrounds and animations are given more depth and richer detail. Retaining the classic design of the series, several new facets have been created including a broader range of motion and control techniques. Now our hero has the capability to dash, double-jump, shoot up or down in a vertical fashion, grab onto ledges, etc. A new leveling system allows gamers to build up Arthur’s skills for more powerful magic abilities and attacks. With the addition of extra lives, death doesn’t mean starting from a check point but rematerializing where they left off. Also new to the series is the inclusion of three difficulty modes that will suit every experience level: Novice, Standard and Ultimate. With the introduction of these all-new settings, a wide range of players can now fully enjoy Arthur’s daring and unique world.

No longer just a linear experience, Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins has plenty of branching sub-missions that will encourage players to explore their surroundings for a more open-ended experience. Gamers can save their progress along the way and revisit cleared stages at anytime to expose unexplored paths, concealed items or weapons to help conquer the challenges that lie ahead.

Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins boasts the following features:

New features and upgrades for the series –

  • New 3-D characters and environments enrich the side-scrolling adventure!
  • New weapons, magic and armor help Arthur overcome difficult challenges
  • New and improved moves for the heroic Sir Arthur:
  • Double-jump in mid-air, grab onto ledges and much more
  • New save feature allows gamers to revisit cleared stages at anytime

Human Hair Firefox Extensions?

funnyads.jpgNow for me, Google’s AdSense Ads have always been pretty much on the mark via Firefox Facts.

These ads were just too funny to pass up though. Maybe Mozilla is in the wrong business?

Here are a few counter ads that Mozilla could launch back at the hair community.

  • Even people with fake hair use it!
  • Firefox grew my hair back!
  • It’s safer than having hair replacement surgery!
  • Using Firefox does not cause male pattern baldness!
  • Bald People Use Internet Explorer!

Rojo Blows, News Alloy Saves!

Since the new Rojo is extremely buggy, I have had to move feed readers yet again. This time around I think I have found a keeper. NewsAlloy.com is one of the quickest and cleanest Web-based feed readers I have seen in a while.

topnews_logo.gifI had no problem importing my OPML list into News Alloy, and once I did I was ready to go. You see, I like to see a long list of entries in my feed reader that I can scan down. Once I have reached the bottom, I want to be able to get rid of them for good. It is such a simple idea, I don’t know why more Online feed readers don’t provide this simple view aspect.

Another nice thing I liked about this service is it didn’t choke on my number of RSS feeds that I subscribe to.

So if you are looking for a quick and reliable way of going through your feeds, give News Alloy a shot.

Adding New Feed Readers to Firefox 2

start.jpgOne of the few annoyances I have found with Firefox 2.0 is there was no way for me to add Rojo in as my feed reader of choice. By default, if you don’t use one of the recommended ones, you are out of luck for right now. I decided to look around to see if I could find a solution though.

1. The first thing you need to do is go into about:config. Just type “about:config” into your address bar.

2. Now the second thing you need to do is decide which feed reader you are going to replace. I replaced the Google Feed Reader with Rojo.

Now scroll down in about:config till you find the string called:

browser.contentHandlers.types.2.title

Right-click this string and choose “Modify”. Now get rid of the name that is there, and add the name of your new feed reader. (I typed “Rojo” in this box) Then hit “OK”.

3. Next you will need to look a little further down in about:config till you find the string called:

browser.contentHandlers.types.2.uri

Right-click this string and choose “Modify” again. This time you are going to have to change the URL that your service in question uses. In the place where the feed would go, put in “%s”. So for Rojo, I typed this into that box:

http://www.rojo.com/add-subscription?resource=%s

last.jpgThen hit “OK”.

4. After you get done with that, restart Firefox 2. Go into Tools, then Options, then Feeds. If all goes well, you should see your feed reader of choice replacing the old selection you had. Instead of Google, I now have Rojo. Select your new option, hit “OK” and you are done!
