Slickr is One Nice Screensaver!

We have all wished we could have been a part of the renaissance time period. You know the one, the cultural rebirth from the fourteenth through the middle of the seventeenth centuries. They were a time of scientific revolution and artistic transformation. Well, I can’t give you a time machine but I can show you a way to experience your own photography renaissance, from your personal computer, with Slickr.

What is Slickr? Well by now everybody has hear of Flickr. Just in case you haven’t, Flickr is a digital photo sharing Web site and Web services suite. Slickr takes those photos from Flickr and displays them as a screensaver for your computer.

From the options, you can set Slickr to show you photos from a specific user, a group, a local folder or everyone. You can also put in a few tags to specify what type of photos you want to see. You can also set the photo size when the screensaver is enabled along with a few other tweaking features.

If you are a fan of Flickr or a photography lover then this screensaver is a must have. With having a handful of tags and this screensaver installed, you are opening your eyes to an entire world of photography that you may or may not have experienced before. Think of it as a renaissance (minus all the old and smelly people) for your digital lifestyle.

Swift – More Browsing Fun?

swift.pngWell, it looks like there is another browser getting ready to pounce on the compeditors in the war for your surfing attention. Swift is a Web browser for Windows based on the Apple WebKit rendering engine. From somebody who has never even used and Apple (I’d rather eat them) here are my thoughts.

Well first things first, it didn’t stay running long. After going to about two or three Web sites, it just died on me. That isn’t so cool. The inteface needs some work, but I am sure a polished look will come in time. One more thing that really gets me is there is no right-click menu! This might be some sort of Apple thing, but if you are going to have a program on Windows, I need my right-click menu.

Overall, I think in the future it might be great – but this release shouldn’t be people’s first impressions of it. They should have held off a little while longer till they got it at least fully usable. Download it for yourself, and let me know what you think!

Web Hosting Search

I just finished up adding a new Google search Web page to the HostingHoopla.com layout. All you need to do is hit the search link, and you’ll be on your way to finding what you need in no time at all.

I know “search” might not be the most innovative new thing I can do, but it also shows off Google’s new search results within a Web page feature.

Blogebrities Need a Vacation

On an Internet where we are suppose to have millions of voices talking about topics; why is it we are forced to read the same ones over and over again? Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against somebody being popular.

The thing that gets me is that the way you make a buck these days is you just milk the most popular A-list blogger you can find. I challenge somebody out there to create me a Web site where I can find new voices, not the same old tired posts I see everywhere else.

Let us lighten the load on the blogebrities for a little while and invest our time and eyeballs with somebody new. Who know? You might even like it.

Fidel Castro is Undead

I just had sent to me the true before and after shots of the “doctored” Fidel Castro pictures that were made public not too long ago. Here is the before the photo was edited and after the photo was edited.

deadstro.jpg castro.jpg

As you can clearly see, the second photo has been touched up. My theory is that the center of Cuba is filled with Zombies – that is why you don’t see too many people coming in or going out of there. Castro was obviously fighting the Zombie king and got bitten. Of course, now Castro will be forced to rule Cuba from the shadows as a member of the undead.

Here is some wallpaper I create for my good friend and hyphenated wrestling hero, SB-1. I don’t know why, but it seems like I am on a big wallpaper creating kick as of late. It is all black and white, except for his new pink tights. Check it out and give me some feedback!
