You probably know by now that I just launched a new Web hosting Web site, Hosting Hoopla. What you don’t know is all the “behind the scenes” work that had to be done to get it up and running. Don’t worry though, because I won’t keep it secret much longer.

Odeo has been a pain in my side for the last few weeks. It seems like anytime I want to update my channel there for the Web Hosting Show podcast, it never does. Now it has started to double post all my entries as well. Contacted support you say? Tried that, still can’t get an answer.
Update: I got this E-mail this afternoon:

Thanks for the feedback; this is a bug. I’ve submimtted a trouble ticket (two actually, one for the duplicates and I’ve added your info to the existing pinging bug.) We should have a (relatively!) speedy resolution. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

You can learn all kinds of things when reading through all the Web hosting forums that are out there. This week, I’m going to share with you a couple of resources I learned about. More hosting help, less filling than the others, the Web Hosting Show – Podcast 53 is now on the air.
At first, I thought this Web site was a joke. It was an ad that I actually clicked on though, so I have to give them credit for that. $49.95 might be a little too expensive to watch Mr. Shatner’s direct to DVD viewing selections. Captain Kirk is free to drop me an E-mail to change my mind if he wants to.
The last few weeks have been really hectic for me. Between helping web hosts get customers and launching new Web site, I haven’t had much time for anything else. I am making some progress though. Hosting Hoopla is up and running as my new “hosting article database”. I have another new project that is almost ready to make public as well. So sorry if I haven’t been as responsive as I have been in the past, but I can promise you many good things are on the way.
Automatic backups for your Web site sounds like a pretty sweet deal, right? Well the folks at Site5 had that in mind when they created Flashback. So what is Flashback? What does it do?
Go check out Hosting Hoopla! The dictionary definition of hoopla is “boisterous, jovial commotion or excitement”. What will be done here that is a little different is I will be covering the “excitement” of the Web hosting industry. Many of the Web hosting news and information Web sites are dull and boring. I want to put a new face on the Web hosting industry that shows how ecstatic it can really be. The Web hosting world isn’t ruled by thousands of nerds in white buttoned up shirts and black ties.
