Well the cat is out of the bag, so I’ll go ahead and spill all that I know about the Blogware linking problems. I first started noticing that all my trackback links were disappearing inside my Blogware control panel for both my blog and the Web Hosting Show’s Web site. The one that I remembered most was being mentioned on Blogebrity, so I checked there first. Then I was told that Blogebrity was blocked across Blogware because of user complaints of trackback spam. This is the exact message I got from Blogware support:
Apparently Blogebrity.com is blocked from linking to all of Blogware hosted sites due to spamming complaints (trackback and/or comment spam) by Blogware customers. I’m working with Tucows to try and get the block removed.
Blogware has now removed Blogebrity.com from the filtering list. I think I deserve to be a C-List blogger for that at least! The problems don’t stop there though. Blogware was also blocking me from linking to myself. All trackbacks between this Web site and my podcast were being blocked because they thought it was trackback spam. That has been fixed as well after I asked them to remove the blocks there as well.
Chris seems to be having problems as well. So is Nick Bradbury. I’ve never been in more elite company!
Now the newest area where I am having problems is them blocking Lockergnome via the Web Hosting Show’s Web site. I usually write an article every Monday that has something to do with the podcast and post it to Lockergnome. Well, right now Blogware is blocking Lockergnome’s Web Developer channel from linking to the Web Hosting Show.
There is hope though. The support person I have been talking with has been fairly helpful. This was the last response I got from him:
The blocking lists are system wide (all of Blogware). I’ve gotten them to remove Blogebrity.com and I just requested lockergnome.com as well. I have also asked for an investigation as to why these sites have been blocked. I’ve been told that they accept complaints from Blogware resellers and then confirm them prior to listing, however I am questioning the procedure due to these recent blocks.
I sure hope change is coming. It is a pain in the butt to try to remember every Web site that has ever linked to me to see if they are blocked or not from doing so again.
