Oh great, now we get another list where the same old folks get to get around and give each other a proverbial pat on the back. Who is on CNET’s flavor of the top 100 blogs? (link via Chris) It is the same folks that are on every other top ten to a thousand list out there. On the top of the page, CNET asks us all this question:
With more than 14 million blogs in existence and another 80,000 being created each day, how is a person supposed to find the ones worth reading?
Apparently the answer is copy the same freaking names that everybody else publishes as the “elite” group of bloggers out there and say “tough luck” to all us little guys out there making a difference.
This list is not for the masses, it is for the 100 people who made it onto the list. It is bragging rights. When was the last time somebody stopped you on the street and said, “Hey man, your not cool till you make it on (insert company here)’s top blogs list!”. I have nothing against the people on the list, but I sure think there should be a better way of putting a list together.
Lets all try to not be mindless tech zombies today and find some real new and interesting storytellers out there.
