I’ve been on a video game kick for the last few days. Not just with my own personal time, but with my writing time as well. Check out some of these latest articles I just posted for Lockergnome’s Game Invasion.
I have played a lot of video games in my day, but not till just recently had I ever played one of the Tekken games. Well, let me take that back, I think I played the first Tekken game back in the arcades many moons ago. Never the less, I had never played one at home and never played one after that. So when I heard that Tekken 5 came out it was about time to give the game a chance. You see I was raised with Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. When I was growing up, if you played anything else you were a “traitor” to your favorite game. Now that phase of gaming history is over I can give a fair review of Tekken 5, without the worry of a lynch mob coming to beat me with a sack of oranges.
There is a bill in the House of Representatives that says that the video game creators should be held liable if somebody under 17 years old commits a crime because he played it on a video game. Now we do already live in a society that likes to pass the buck when it comes to taking responsibility, but does anybody really believe this is the answer?
There is a new family member in the Entertainment Software Ratings Board! The new rating will be known as “E10+” and is for everybody ten years and older. This makes a lot of sense. There are some games out there I wouldn’t want my six year old nephew playing just yet, but I wouldn’t want to make it just a “Teen” rated game either. This creates a nice middle point between those two genres.
With the The Sims 2: University expansion pack just out of production, the team at the Sims 2 are already working on another way to start taking more of your money. We all know our little sims like to have fun right? Well, now they will have a night life as well. Oh great, now my sim is going to have a drug problem and be up all night racing cars! Will the next expansion pack be, The Sims 2: Rehab Clinic?
Also, I just posted a full preview of what you can expect to see on next week’s edition of the Web Hosting Show! Check it out and let me know if there is anything else you’d like me to cover on next Monday’s show!
